Answer:

grams of oxygen = 21.40 g

Explanation:

octane → C8H18

The chemical reaction needs to be represented with a chemical equation before solving. The equation also need to be balanced.

C8H18 + O2 → CO2 + H2O

Balanced equation

2C8H18 + 25O2 → 16CO2 + 18H2O

Molar mass of octane = 12 × 8 + 18 = 96 + 18 = 114 g

Mass of octane in the chemical equation = 2 (114) = 228 g

molar mass of oxygen = 32 g

mass of oxygen in the chemical equation = 25 × 32 = 800  g

if  228 g of octane react with 800 g of oxygen

6.1 g of octane will require ? grams of oxygen

cross multiply

grams of oxygen = 6.1 × 800/228

grams of oxygen = 4880 /228

grams of oxygen = 21.4035087719

grams of oxygen = 21.40 g

A pure Silicon crystal has 700,000 free electrons (actual number of electrons; not the concentration). How many holes does it ha
Sveta_85 [38]

Answer:

700,000 holes

Explanation:

When heat energy occurs to produce free electrons, the number of free electrons produced is directly proportional and equal to the number of holes it produces at that time.

Hence, if silicon crystal (pure) has 700,000 free electrons, then the number of holes it have is also 700,000.

A student increases the temperature of a 200cm3 balloom from 60 degress C to 180 degrees C. What will the new volume of the ball
kkurt [141]

Answer:

The new volume of the balloon is 600cm³

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Initial Volume, which is V₁ = 200cm³

Initial temperature, T₁ = 60°C

Final temperature T₂ = 180°C

Final Volume V₂ =?

To solve this kind of problem, we apply one of the gas laws that shows the relationship between volume and temperature.

This law is the Charles law, it states that " the volume of a fixed mass of a gas is directly proportional to its absolute temperature if pressure is constant".

It is simply expressed as:

V₁/T₁ = V₂/T₂

Since our unknown is V₂, we make it the subject of the expression given above:

V₂ = V₁T₂/T₁

Now input the corresponding values and solve:

V₂ = 200 x 180 / 60

V₂ = 36000/60

V₂ = 600cm³

The new volume of the balloon is 600cm³
