What volume of O2 collected at 22.0 and 728 mmHg would be produce by the decomposition of 8.15 g KClO3?
adell [148]

Answer:

There is 2.52 L of O2 collected

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given:

Temperature = 22.0 °C

Pressure = 728 mmHg = 728 /760 = 0.958 atm

Mass of KClO3 = 8.15 grams

Molar mass of KClO3 = 122.55 g/mol

Step 2: The balanced equation

2KClO3(s) → 2KCl(s) + 3O2(g)

Step 3: Calculate moles of KClO3

Moles KClO3 = mass KClO3 / molar mass KClO3

Moles KClO3= 8.15 grams / 122.55 g/mol

Moles KClO3 = 0.0665 moles

Step 4: Calculate moles of O2

For 2 moles of KClO3 we'll have 2 moles of KCl and 3 moles of O2 produced

For 0.0665 moles of KClO3 we have 3/2 * 0.0665 = 0.09975 moles

Step 5: Calculate vlume of O2

p*V = n*R*T

V = (n*R*T)/p

⇒ with n = the number of moles O2 = 0.09975 moles

⇒ with R = the gas constant = 0.08206 L*atm/K*mol

⇒ with T = 22.0 °C = 273 +22 = 295 Kelvin

⇒ with p = 0.958 atm

V = (0.09975 * 0.08206 * 295) / 0.958

V = 2.52 L

There is 2.52 L of O2 collected

A 48.0g sample of quartz, which has a specific heat capacity of 0.730·J·g−1°C−1, is dropped into an insulated container containi
Butoxors [25]

Answer:

The equilibrium temperature of the water is 26.7 °C

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Mass of the sample quartz = 48.0 grams

Specific heat capacity of the sample = 0.730 J/g°C

Initial temperature of the sample = 88.6°C

Mass of the water = 300.0 grams

Initial temperature = 25.0°C

Specific heat capacity of water = 4.184 J/g°C

Step 2: Calculate final temperature

Qlost = -Qgained

Qquartz = - Qwater

Q =m*c*ΔT

Q = m(quartz)*c(quartz)*ΔT(quartz) = -m(water) * c(water) * ΔT(water)

⇒ mass of the quartz = 48.0 grams

⇒ c(quartz) = the specific heat capacity of quartz = 0.730 J/g°C

⇒ ΔT(quartz) = The change of temperature of the sample = T2 -88.6 °C

⇒ mass of water = 300.0 grams

⇒c(water) = the specific heat capacity of water = 4.184 J/g°C

⇒ ΔT= (water) = the change in temperature of water = T2 - 25.0°C

48.0 * 0.730 * (T2-88.6) -300.0 * 4.184 *(T2 - 25.0)

35.04(T2-88.6) = -1255.2 (T2-25)

35.04T2 -3104.544 = -1255.2T2 + 31380

1290.24T2 = 34484.544

T2 = 26.7 °C

The equilibrium temperature of the water is 26.7 °C

Is H3O+ polar or non polar? (explain please.)?
pishuonlain [190]
The overall molecule is Polar because the shape of the molecule is Trigonal Pyramidal, which means it has the lone pair electrons. Becuase of the lone pair the pulling is unequal.

H3O+ has 3 polar bonds.
To know if the bonds are polar or nonpolar find the difference of the element's electronegativity charge.
H has electronegativity charge of 2.2, and O has 3.4.
Always subtract the smaller number from the greater one.
So 3.4 - 2.2 = 1.2
If the difference is from 0-0.4 the bond is nonpolar, but if it's from 0.5-1.9 the bond is polar.
So, 1.2 is polar bond. So H3O+ has 3 polar bonds, and the overall molecule is polar too.

A simple way to know if it's polar or nonpolar is to draw the lewis dot structure, and use VSEPR.
