Answer:

(a) its moment of inertia about its center is 0.002095 kgm²

(b) Applied torque is 0.071813 Nm

Explanation:

Given;

Radius of the grinding wheel, R = 8.5cm

Mass of the grinding wheel, m = 0.580kg

Part (a) its moment of inertia about its center

I = ¹/₂MR²

I = ¹/₂(0.58)(0.085)²

I = 0.002095 kgm²

Part (b)

Given;

initial angular velocity, ωi = 1500rpm = 157.1 rad/s

final angular velocity, ωf = 1500rpm = 157.1 rad/s

Initial torque, τi = I x αi

αi = ωi / t

αi = 157.1 / 5 = 31.42 rad/s²

τi = 0.002095 x 31.42

τi = 0.06583 Nm

Final torque, τf =  I x αf

αf = ωf / t

αf = 157.1 / 55 = 2.856 rad/s²

τf = 0.002095 x 2.856

τf = 0.005983 Nm

Applied torque = τi + τf

                          =  0.06583 Nm + 0.005983 Nm

                          = 0.071813 Nm

In SI units, what is the magnitude the net force acting on a 1,152 kg car that accelerates uniformly along a straight line from
geniusboy [140]

Answer:

Fnet = 14515.2 Newton

Explanation:

Net force can be defined as the vector sum of all the forces acting on a body or an object i.e the sum of all forces acting simultaneously on a body or an object.

Mathematically, net force is given by the formula;

Fnet = Fapp + Fg

Where;

  • Fnet is the net force.
  • Fapp is the applied force.
  • Fg is the force due to gravitation.

Given the following data;

Mass = 1,152 kg

Initial velocity, u = 3m/s

Final velocity, v = 17m/s

Time, t = 5 seconds

To find the magnitude of the net force;

First of all, we would determine the acceleration of the car.

Acceleration = (v-u)/t

Acceleration = (17 - 3)/5

Acceleration = 14/5

Acceleration = 2.8m/s

To find the applied force;

Fapp = mass * acceleration

Fapp = 1,152 * 2.8

Fapp = 3225.6 N

Next, we would find the force exerted on the car due to gravity.

Fg = mass * acceleration due to gravity

We know that acceleration due to gravity is equal to 9.8m/s²

Fg = 1152 * 9.8

Fg = 11289.6N

Substituting the values into the equation, we have;

Fnet = 3225.6 + 11289.6

Fnet = 14515.2 Newton

Competitive pressures stemming from the threat of entry are stronger when
navik [9.2K]

Answer:

Industries outlook is uncertain

Explanation:

Competitive pressures stemming from the threat of entry are stronger when the industry's outlook is uncertain or highly risky, entry barriers are low, and very few existing industry members are looking to expand their market reach by entering product segments or geographic areas where they currently do not have a presence. entry barriers are low, the pool of entry candidates is large, and existing industry members are earning good profits. there are fewer than 10 entry candidates with the potential to hurdle the industry's barriers to entry. t is difficult or costly for a customer to switch to a new brand, the total dollar investment needed to enter the market successfully exceeds $5 million, and existing governmental regulations impose significant cost and compliance burdens on industry members. buyers have strong brand preferences and high degrees of loyalty to their preferred brand and when it takes new entrants less than 5 years to secure attractive amounts of space on retailers' shelves and build a well-recognized brand name.
