Answer: -1.5m/s^2

Explanation:

Initial velocity V1 = 14.0 m/s

Final velocity V2 = 5.0 m/s

Time taken = 6.0s

The car's acceleration = ?

Since acceleration is the rate of change of velocity per unit time

i.e acceleration = (V2 - V1) / T

Acc = (5.0 m/s - 14.0 m/s) / 6.0 s

Acc = (-9.0m/s) / 6.0s

Acc = -1.5m/s^2 ( the negative acceleration means the car is slowing down)

Thus, the cars acceleration is -1.5m/s^2

A car starts from rest and accelerates at 4 m/s^2 for 8 s, after which it continues at constant speed for 19 s. How far would it
ser-zykov [4K]

Answer:

The total distance traveled is 736 m

Solution:

According to the question:

Initial velocity, v = 0

(since, the car is starting from rest)

acceleration, a = 4 m/s^{2}

Time taken, t = 8 s

Now, the distance covered by it in 8 s is given by the second eqn of motion:

d = vt + \farc{1}{2}at^{2}

d = 0.t + \farc{1}{2}4\times 8^{2} = 128 m

Now, to calculate the velocity, we use eqn 1 of motion:

v' = v + at

v' = 0 + 4(8) = 32 m/s

Now, the distance traveled by the car with uniform velocity of 32 m/s for t' = 19 s:

distance, d' = v't'

d' = 32\times 19 = 608 m

Total distance traveled = d + d' = 128 + 608 = 736 m

What is the minimum height of a planar mirror placed in a vertical plane 2m distant that will permit a person 2m tall to see the
Taya2010 [7]

Answer:

Height of mirror will be 1 m for complete image of person

Explanation:

We have given distance of person from plane mirror d = 2 m

And height of person = 2 m

We have to find the height of plane mirror which given full image of person

Height of mirror will be equal to half of height of person

So height of mirror =\frac{height\ of\ person}{2}=\frac{2}{2}=1m

So height of mirror will be 1 m for complete image of person

Assume that charge −q−q-q is placed on the top plate, and +q+q+q is placed on the bottom plate. What is the magnitude of the ele
STatiana [176]

Answer:

Magnitude of electric field = E = q/Aε0

Explanation:

Consider plates are placed at a distance of d. As given in the question the charge stored on the plates have magnitude q and given by:

                                          q = CV

And

                                          V = q/C    ……. (i)

The capacitance is given by the following equation:

                                         C = Aε0/d ……. (ii)

Put equation (ii) in (i) ,

                                          V = qd/ Aε0 …..(iii)

The electric field is defined as:

                                            E = V/d   …… (iv)

Put equation (iii) in (iv),

                                            E = qd/ Aε0d

                                            E = q/Aε0

Hence, the magnitude of electric field will be q/Aε0 .
