What is process of bringing water to boiling affects
jek_recluse [69]

Boiling is the rapid vaporization of a liquid, which occurs when a liquid is heated to its boiling point, the temperature at which the vapour pressure of the liquid is equal to the pressure exerted on the liquid by the surrounding atmosphere. There are two main types of boiling; nucleate boiling where small bubbles of vapour form at discrete points, and critical heat flux boiling where the boiling surface is heated above a certain critical temperature and a film of vapor forms on the surface. Transition boiling is an intermediate, unstable form of boiling with elements of both types. The boiling point of water is 100 °C or 212 °F, but is lower with the decreased atmospheric pressure found at higher altitudes.

Boiling water is used as a method of making it potable by killing microbes that may be present. The sensitivity of different micro-organisms to heat varies, but if water is held at 70 °C (158 °F) for ten minutes, many organisms are killed, but some are more resistant to heat and require one minute at the boiling point of water. Clostridium spores can survive this treatment, but as the infection caused by this microbe is not water-borne, this is not a problem.

Boiling is also used in cooking. Foods suitable for boiling include vegetables, starchy foods such as rice, noodles and potatoes, eggs, meats, sauces, stocks and soups. As a cooking method it is simple and suitable for large scale cookery. Tough meats or poultry can be given a long, slow cooking and a nutritious stock is produced. Disadvantages include loss of water-soluble vitamins and minerals. Commercially prepared foodstuffs are sometimes packed in polythene sachets and sold as "boil-in-the-bag" products.

Choose the term that best fits the following definition: the liquid or gas that carries the sample across the solid support.
iren [92.7K]

The correct answer is option B.

The liquid or gas that carries the sample across the solid support is called mobile phase.

In chromatography, there are two phases: mobile phase and solid phase.

The mobile phase can be either in gas form or liquid form.

While performing the chromatography technique, mobile phase moves over the stationary phase and its components adsorb to the stationary phase and set apart from each other at different rates.

In general, mobile phase refers to the solvent phase that slides over the stationary phase through the chromatography paper.

on the other hand, stationary phase is motionless.

Select all that apply to physical and chemical properties ?
MaRussiya [10]

Answer:

•   Chemical properties can only be observed during a chemical reaction:

Chemical properties can only be established by changing a substance's chemical identity, and chemical properties are different from physical properties, which can be observed by viewing or touching a sample. The internal qualities of a substance must be altered to determine its chemical properties.

Examples:

Some common chemical properties are heat of combustion, enthalpy of formation, toxicity,

and flammability, each of which will be covered in this lesson.

•   Rusting of iron is the chemical reaction not physical because:

The rusting of iron is a chemical change because it is two substances reacting together to make a

new substance. When iron rusts, iron molecules react with oxygen molecules to make a compound

called iron oxide. Rusting would only be a physical change if iron molecules remained pure iron

throughout the process.

The equation for this reaction is: 4Fe+ 3O2 → 2Fe2O

•   Melting and boiling points are physical properties:

Yes melting and boiling points are the physical properties.

Physical properties can be observed or measured without changing the composition of matter. Physical properties are used to observe and describe matter.

Physical properties include: appearance, texture, color, odor, melting point, boiling point, density, solubility, polarity, and many others.

•   Mass and volume are chemical properties:

No mass and volume are the extensive physical properties of matter

All properties of matter are either physical or chemical properties and physical properties are either intensive or extensive.

Extensive properties, such as mass and volume, depend on the amount of matter being measured.

Intensive properties, such as density and color, do not depend on the amount of the substance present.

Physical properties can be measured without changing a substance’s chemical identity.

•   Various components of a mixture do not combine chemically:

When various components of a mixture do not combine chemically it is a Combination of substances in which individual components do not combine chemically but retain their individual properties. Mixture in which one or more substances are distributed evenly in another substance.

When various components combine chemically then form chemical compounds that are often divided into two categories. Metals often react with nonmetals to form ionic compounds. These compounds are composed of positive and negative ions formed by adding or subtracting electrons from neutral atoms and molecules

What is science?
Vladimir79 [104]

Hi! Science stands for “Systematic Comprehensive Investigation and Exploration of Nature Causes and Effects”.

What is science?

Science is the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical natural world. It is also use for experience or can say it is an experience. Scientists are people who test science/experiments for the worlds. Science really is just the study of the nature. Science use math em empathic and logic, which are sometimes called “formal science”.
