The question is asking you weather you agree or not. I would say not because there are more black pens then red, therefore if someone went to grab a pen not looking there's a higher chance of it being black instead of red. Does that make sense?

Given the equation y = -3x +1/2 , what is the y-intercept?
pychu [463]

y  intercept = 1/2

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

Step 1:

Formula y=mx+b in Slope Intercept form( whereas m= slope of the given equation, b= y intercept)

Step 2:

Comparing the given equation y = -3x + 1/2

we get  m=-3(Slope) and y-intercept b=1/2

What is the equation of the line in slope-intercept form with slope -3/2 and y-intercept -5?
V125BC [204]

About Slope Intercept Form:

  • y = mx + b
  • m represents the slope
  • b represents the y-intercept or AKA the starting point

ABOUT PROBLEM:

  • Since -3/2 is the slope, it represents m in Slope Intercept Form
  • Since -5 is the y-intercept, it represents b in Slope Intrecept Form

y = mx + b

y = -3/2x + -5 --- IN Slope Intercept Form

Hope this helps you!!! :)

Question 4
Elanso [62]

Answer:

a A = 30 + 0.45 n

b A = 90.3

c 0 customers

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Base\ Amount = 30

Rate = 0.45 per customer

Solving (a): Amount (A) on n customers

This is calculated as:

A = Base\ Amount + Rate * n

A = 30 + 0.45 * n

A = 30 + 0.45 n

Solving (b): Amount on 134 customers

In this case: n = 134

So:

A = 30 + 0.45 * 134

A = 30 + 60.3

A = 90.3

Solving (c): Customers at noon.

At noon, the amount is 30.

So:

A = 30 + 0.45 n

30 = 30 + 0.45n

Collect like terms

0.45n = 30 - 30

0.45n =0

n = 0

A statistician uses Chebyshev's Theorem to estimate that at least 15 % of a population lies between the values 9 and 20. Use thi
rjkz [21]

Answer:

\mu = 14.5\\

\sigma = 5.071\\

k = 1.084

Step-by-step explanation:

given that a  statistician uses Chebyshev's Theorem to estimate that at least 15 % of a population lies between the values 9 and 20.

i.e. his findings with respect to probability are

P(9

Recall Chebyshev's inequality that

P(|X-\mu |\geq k\sigma )\leq {\frac {1}{k^{2}}}\\P(|X-\mu |\leq k\sigma )\geq 1-{\frac {1}{k^{2}}}\\

Comparing with the Ii equation which is appropriate here we find that

\mu =14.5

Next what we find is

k\sigma = 5.5\\1-\frac{1}{k^2} =0.15\\\frac{1}{k^2}=0.85\\k=1.084\\1.084 (\sigma) = 5.5\\\sigma = 5.071

Thus from the given information we find that

\mu = 14.5\\\sigma = 5.071\\k = 1.084
