Answer:

a) a = 0

b) W = 29.72 N

Explanation:

a)The acceleration of an object is defined as the change of its speed with respect to a time interval, Because the briefcase remains at rest, its acceleration (a) is zero.

a=0

b) Calculation of the weight of the briefcase

The formula to calculate the weight is the following:

W= m*g      Formula (1)

Where:

W : is the weight in Newtons (N)

m : is the mass in kilograms (kg)

g : is the acceleration due to gravity in meters over second square (m/s²)

Data

m=3.03 kg : mass of the briefcase

m=9.81 m/s² : acceleration due to gravity

We replace data in the formula (1)

W= m*g = 3.03 kg * 9.81 m/s²

W= 29.72 N

1. What conditions are necessary for a hurricane to form?
tekilochka [14]
Each year is a different anount of hurricanes but on the Pacific Ocean there is about 14 hurricanes (that's form). Hurricanes rotate clockwise. The Saffir-Simpson scale, it's measured on a scale 1-5 property damage and flooding along the coast. Hurricanes get their names from meteorologist a long time ago from their communication about them being more effectively and to tell whether to stay more farther away from the hurricane. The calmest winds in the hurricane is the, Eye. Which the Eye is also called the, cyclone. The strongest winds are in the right-front side of the hurricanes center. Hope this helped! Sorry that I couldn't get everything.

A helicopter is hovering above the ground. Jim reaches out of the copter (with a safety harness on) at 180 m above the ground. A
vesna_86 [32]

Answer:

The maximum height of the package is 140 m above the ground. Jim Bond will not catch the package.

Explanation:

Hi there!

The equation of height and velocity of the package are the following:

h = h0 + v0 · t + 1/2 · g · t²

v = v0 + g · t

Where:

h = height of the package at time t.

h0 = initial height.

v0 = initial velocity.

t = time.

g = acceleration due to gravity (-9.81 m/s² because we consider the upward direction as positive).

v = velocity of the package at a time t.

First, let´s find the time it takes the package to reach the maximum height. For this, we will use the equation of velocity because we know that at the maximum height, the velocity of the package is zero. So, we have to find the time at which v = 0:

v = v0 + g · t

0 = 50.5 m/s - 9.8 m/s² · t

Solving for t:

-50.5 m/s / -9.81 m/s² = t

t = 5.15 s

Now, let´s find the height that the package reaches in that time using the equation of height. Let´s place the origin of the frame of reference on the ground so that the initial position of the package is 10 m above the ground:

h = h0 + v0 · t + 1/2 · g · t²

h = 10 m + 50.5 m/s · 5.15 s - 1/2 · 9.81 m/s² · (5.15 s)²

h = 140 m

The maximum height of the package is 140 m above the ground. Jim Bond will not catch the package.

A sky-diver jumps from a stationary balloon. His initial downwards acceleration is 10m/s².
Tatiana [17]

Explanation:

a. The force acting down is gravity, on Earth gravity is 10 m/s^2. When the skydiver jump, the acceleration will start out as -10 m/s^2, but it will eventually equals the air resistance , which is called terminal velocity.

What is the acceleration?

–0.4 m/s2

–0.2 m/s2

0.2 m/s2

0.4 m/s2
denis23 [38]
We are asked to solve for the acceleration with the given graph in the problem. Let us recall that the formula for acceleration is shown below:
acceleration (a) = (Vf - Vi) / t
in this problem, we need to pick velocity final and initial such as:
Vf = 10 m/s
Vi = 8 m/s
Check the corresponding time, in this case, the time is (40seconds - 30seconds) equivalent to 10 seconds
Solving for the acceleration, we have it:
a = (10 - 8) / 10
a = 2/10
a = 0.2 m/s²

The answer is 0.2 m/s².
