Factor by grouping is easier to visualize if we factor each group:
24x3 − 54x2 + 44x − 99
= 24x3 + 44x − 54x2 − 99
=4x(24x^3/(4x)+44x/(4x)) - 9(54x^2/9+99/9)
=4x(6x^2+11) - 9(6x^2+11)
=(4x-9)(6x^2+11)

Can someone please explain why this is the answer?
nekit [7.7K]

We can factor by grouping like so

3v^2 + 16v + 5

3v^2 + 15v + v + 5

3v(v + 5) + 1(v + 5)

(3v+1)(v+5)

---------

Check:

(3v+1)(v+5)

w(v+5) ... let w = 3v+1

vw + 5w

v(w) + 5(w)

v(3v+1) + 5(3v+1) .... plug in w = 3v+1

3v^2+v + 15v + 5

3v^2 + 16v + 5

We get the original expression again, which confirms the answer.
