Answer:

The answer to your question is a) limiting reactant SO₂

                                                     b)mass of SO₃ produced 31.25 g

Explanation:

Data

mass of SO₂ = 25 g

mass of O₂ = 40 g

Balanced Reaction

                                     2SO₂   +   O₂   ⇒   2SO₃

Process

1.- Calculate the molecular mass of the reactants

SO₂ = 32 + (16 x 2) = 32 + 32 = 64

O₂ = 16 x 2 =32

2.- Use proportions to determine the limiting reactant

Theoretical proportion    2(SO₂) / O₂ = 2(64) / 32 = 4

Experimental proportion   SO₂ / O₂ = 25 / 40 = 0.625

From these results, we determined that the limiting reactant is SO₂, because the proportion in the experiment is lower.

3.- Amount of SO₃ produced

Mass of SO₃ = 32 + (3 x 16) = 80 g

                        128 g of SO₂   ---------------  2(80) g of SO₃

                        25 g of SO₂    ---------------   x

                         x = (25 x 2 x 80) / 128

                         x = 31.25 g of SO₃

Yeah, it would be B (1.2 x 102 m^3) because the measurement gave it away even though other numbers were higher, however, the measurements for those were smaller in size.

What is the total volume of gaseous products formed when 116 liters of butane (C4H10) react completely according to the followin
Contact [7]

Answer: The total volume of the gaseous products is 1044.29 L

Explanation:

We are given:

Volume of butane = 116 L

At STP:

22.4 L of volume is occupied by 1 mole of a gas

So, 116 L of volume will be occupied by = \frac{1}{22.4}\times 116=5.18mol of butane

The chemical equation for the combustion of butane follows:

2C_4H_{10}(g)+13O_2(g)\rightarrow 8CO_2(g)+10H_2O(g)

  • For carbon dioxide:

By Stoichiometry of the reaction:

2 moles of butane produces 8 moles of carbon dioxide

So, 5.18 moles of butane will produce = \frac{8}{2}\times 5.18=20.72mol of carbon dioxide

Volume of carbon dioxide at STP = (20.72 × 22.4) = 464.13 L

  • For water vapor:

By Stoichiometry of the reaction:

2 moles of butane produces 10 moles of water vapor

So, 5.18 moles of butane will produce = \frac{10}{2}\times 5.18=25.9mol of water vapor

Volume of water vapor at STP = (25.9 × 22.4) = 580.16 L

Total volume of the gaseous products = [464.13 + 580.16] = 1044.29 L

Hence, the total volume of the gaseous products is 1044.29 L

An unknown gas is found to diffuse through a porous membrane 4.11 times more slowly than h2 what is the molecular weight of the
kirill [66]
To answer this question, you need to know Graham's Law of Effusion/Diffusion formula. In this formula, the rate of diffusion/effusion would be influenced by the mass. As the molecule has bigger mass, the rate should be slower because it will be harder to pass the membrane. The calculation should be:
Rate 1 / Rate 2 = √[M2/M1]
4.11/1= √[M2/2]
M2=33.78 g/mol

30 g of hydrogen reacts with 120 g of oxygen to form water.How much water is produced?
Rus_ich [418]

According to law of conservation of mass.

In a chemical reaction Mass is neither created nor destroyed.

#1

Mass of water

\\ \sf\longmapsto 30+120=150g

#2
