The modal and mean mark of the frequency distribution is 5 and 4.83 respectively.

<h3>Mean and mode</h3>

Mode refers to a mark which reoccurs most in a frequency distribution.

  • Modal mark = 5

The total number of students who wrote the test = 2 + 3 + 4 + 6 + 10 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 + 1

= 36 students

Mean mark = Total mark / Total students

= (2×1) + (3×2) + (4×3) + (6×4) + (10×5) + (4×6) + (3×7) + (2×8) + (1×9) + (1×10) / 36

= (2+6+12+24+50+24+21+16+9+10 / 36

= 174/36

= 4.83333333333333

Approximately,

Mean mark = 4.83

If 25% of students failed,

Number of students who failed = 25% of 36

= 25/100 × 36

= 0.25 × 36

= 9 students.

A stack of 39 pennies is exactly as tall as a stack of 31
zysi [14]

Answer:

No, they don't

Step-by-step explanation:

Two cylinders are formed. The volume of a cylinder takes into account its height and the area of its base. A nickel has a greater diameter than a penny, then, the nickel stack has a greater area of its base, and therefore it has a greater volume.

Which of the following graphs represents the equation below? f(x) = x^2 + 4x
Sindrei [870]

Answer:

The graph in the attached figure

Step-by-step explanation:

we have

f(x)=x^{2}+4x

This is a vertical parabola open upward

The vertex is a minimum

step 1

Find the x-intercepts

The x-intercepts are the values of x when the value of the function is equal to zero

For f(x)=0

0=x^{2}+4x

Factor x

0=x(x+4)

The x-intercepts are (0,0) and (-4,0)

step 2

Find the y-intercept

The y-intercept is the values of the function when the value of x is equal to zero

For x=0

f(x)=(0)^{2}+4(0)=0

The y-intercept is (0,0)

step 3

Find the vertex

Convert the equation into vertex form

f(x)=x^{2}+4x

Complete the square

f(x)=(x^{2}+4x+4)-4

Rewrite as perfect squares

f(x)=(x+2)^{2}-4

The vertex is the point (-2,-4)

therefore

using a graphing a graphing tool

The graph in the attached figure
