Answer:

The balanced equation for the complete oxidation reaction uses 2 moles of butane and 13 moles of Oxygen.

Explanation:

The oxidation of butane is shown in the following picture. As it is a complete combustion, the products of this reaction are carbon dioxide and water.

Oxygen and nitrogen are both gases at room temperature. Explain why oxygen has a greater force of attraction between its particl
RideAnS [48]

Answer:

Explanation:

Oxygen molecules and Nitrogen molecules forms in a very similar way. The attraction between particles of oxygen is great due to its very high electronegativity value. Oxygen has a higher electronegative value compared to nitrogen.

Electronegativity of an atom is the relative tendency with which atoms of an element attracts valence electrons in a chemical bond. Valence electrons are used in forming chemical bonds. They can be transferred from one atom to the other or they can be shared.

Oxygen is the second most electronegative atom on the periodic table. To form a bond, it shares the valence electrons in order for its octet to be complete. Pull for the valence electrons between the contributing atoms is very strong due to their large electronegative values. This pull is stronger compared to that between nitrogen atoms.

For the following formula, C4H9Cl, calculate the IHD and select all the types of unsaturation that might be present in the molec
Airida [17]

Answer:

The IHD = 0

There is no unsaturation in the compound C4H9Cl

Explanation:

IHD = Index for Hydrogen Deficiency .It determines total number of unsaturation or Pi- bond present in the molecule.It is calculated using the formula:

For Molecule:

C_{c}H_{h}O_{o}N_{n}X_{x}

Here . C = carbon

H = Hydrogen

O = Oxygen

N = Nitrogen

X = Halogen

The IHD is calculated as :

\frac{2c-h-x+n+2}{2}...............(1)

For example :

C4H8O2

Here c = 4 , h = 8 , o = 2 .

n = x=0

Put the value in equation (1) and find IHD

\frac{2(4)-8-0+0+2}{2}

\frac{8-8+2}{2}

\frac{2}{2}

IHD = 1

For C4H9Cl

c = 4 , h = 9 and  x = 1

IHD for this molecule can be calculated as :

\frac{2c-h-x+n+2}{2}

\frac{2(4)-9-1+2}{2}

\frac{8-9-1+2}{2}

= 0

This means there is no unsaturation in the molecule.

Each bond is sigma bond and properly saturated.

For the skeletal chemical equation BF3(g) + NaH(s) → B2H6(g) + NaF(s) what is the coefficient of B2H6 in the balanced equation?
KonstantinChe [14]

Answer:

Coefficient in front of the B_2H_6  in the balanced equation - 1

Explanation:

The unbalanced Chemical equation is shown below as:-

BF_3+NaH\rightarrow B_2H_6+NaF

On the left hand side,

There are 1 boron atom and 3 fluorine atoms and 1 sodium and hydrogen atoms.

On the right hand side,

There are 2 boron atoms and 6 hydrogen atoms and 1 sodium and fluorine atoms.

Thus,

leftside, BF_3 must be multiplied by 2 to balance boron and right side, NaF must be multiplied by 6 to balance fluorine. Left side, NaH must be multiplied by 6 to balance sodium and hydrogen atoms.

Thus, the balanced reaction is:-

2BF_3+6NaH\rightarrow B_2H_6+6NaF

<u>Coefficient in front of the B_2H_6  in the balanced equation - 1</u>
