In a certain lightning flash, the potential difference between a cloud and the ground is! 1.0 x 109 V and the quantity of charge

transferred is 30 C. (a) What is the change in energy of the transferred charge? (b) If all the energy released by the transfer could be used to accelerate a 1000 kg automobile from rest, what would be the automobiles final speed?

Answer:

a) 3.0 x 10¹⁰ J

b) 7.75 x 10³ m/s

Explanation:

a)

ΔV = potential difference between cloud and the ground = 1.0 x 10⁹ Volts

Q = Amount of charge transferred = 30 C

ΔU = Change in energy transferred

Change in energy transferred is given as

ΔU = Q ΔV

ΔU = (30) (1.0 x 10⁹)

ΔU = 3.0 x 10¹⁰ J

b)

v₀ = initial speed of the automobile = 0 m/s

v = final speed of the automobile = ?

m = mass of automobile = 1000 kg

Using conservation of energy

ΔU = (0.5) m (v² - v₀²)

3.0 x 10¹⁰ = (0.5) (1000) (v² - 0²)

v = 7.75 x 10³ m/s

Answers:

a) Arrow B

b) Arrow E

Explanation:

Refraction is a phenomenon in which a wave (the light in this case) bends or changes its direction when passing through a medium with a refractive index different from the other medium. Where the Refractive index is a number that describes how fast light propagates through a medium or material.

According to this, if we observe the rays A an D passing throgh the biconcave lens, we will have two mediums:

1) The air

2)The material of the biconcave lens

This two mediums have different refractive indexes, hence the rays will change the direction.

-For the incident ray A, the corresponding refractive ray is B, because is the ray that bends after passing throgh the lens

-For the incident ray D, the refracted ray is E following the same principle.

Four blocks of weights are required using which any body whose weight is between 1kg and 40 kg can be weighed. Find the four wei
Vikentia [17]

Answer:

The weights are 1 kg, 3kg, 9kg and 27kg.

Explanation:

The weights are 1 kg, 3kg, 9kg and 27kg.

1+3+9+27= 40

27+9+3= 39

27+9+3-1=38

27+9+1=37

27+9=36

27+9-1=35

27+9+1-3=34

27+9-3=33

27+9-3-1=32

27+3+1=31

27+3=30

27+3-1=29

27+1=28

27

27-1=26

27+1-3=25

27-3=24

27-3-1=23

27+3+1-9=22

27+3-9=21

27+3-9-1=20

Like this all the weights from 1 to 40 kg can be made using 1,3,9 and 27 kg.

A student pushes on a 20.0 kg box with a force of 50 N at an angle of 30° below the horizontal. The box accelerates at a rate of
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer:

225 N

Explanation:

"Below the horizontal" means he's pushing down at an angle.

Draw a free body diagram of the box. There are three forces: normal force N pushing up, weight force mg pulling down, and the applied force F at an angle θ.

Sum of forces in the y direction:

∑F = ma

N − mg − F sin θ = 0

N = F sin θ + mg

Plug in values:

N = (50 N) (sin 30°) + (20.0 kg) (10 m/s²)

N = 225 N

Korolek [52]

Answer:

Option B

Explanation:

Speed of a wave is denoted by:

v=fλ

where f is the frequency which is unchanged 15Hz and λ is the new wavelength which is 28m
