Refrigerant-134a at 700 kPa, 70°C, and 7.2 kg/min is cooled by water in a condenser until it exists as a saturated liquid at the

same pressure. The cooling water enters the condenser at 300 kPa and 15°C and leaves at 25°C at the same pressure. Determine the mass flow rate of the cooling water required to cool the refrigerant. The enthalpies of R-134a at the inlet and exit states are 308.34 kJ/kg and 88.82 kJ/kg. The enthalpies of compressed water at both states are 62.98 kJ/kg and 104.83 kJ/kg.

Answer:

The mass flow rate of cooling water required to cool the refrigerant is 123.788\,\frac{kg}{min}.

Explanation:

A condenser is a heat exchanger used to cool working fluid (Refrigerant 134a) at the expense of cooling fluid (water), which works usually at steady state. Let suppose that there is no heat interactions between condenser and surroundings.The condenser is modelled after the First Law of Thermodynamics, which states:

\dot Q_{ref} - \dot Q_{w} = 0

\dot Q_{ref} = \dot Q_{w}

\dot m_{ref}\cdot (h_{ref, in} - h_{ref,out}) = \dot m_{w}\cdot (h_{w, out} - h_{w,in})

The mass flow rate of the cooling water is now cleared:

\dot m_{w} = \dot m_{ref }\cdot \frac{h_{ref,in}-h_{ref,out}}{h_{w,out}-h_{w,in}}

Given that h_{ref,in} = 808.34\,\frac{kJ}{kg}, h_{ref, out} = 88.82\,\frac{kJ}{kg}, h_{w,out} = 104.83\,\frac{kJ}{kg} and h_{w,in} = 62.98\,\frac{kJ}{kg}, the mass flow of the cooling water is:

\dot m_{w} = \left(7.2\,\frac{kg}{min} \right)\cdot \left(\frac{808.34\,\frac{kJ}{kg}-88.82\,\frac{kJ}{kg} }{104.83\,\frac{kJ}{kg}-62.98\,\frac{kJ}{kg} } \right)

\dot m_{w} = 123.788\,\frac{kg}{min}

The mass flow rate of cooling water required to cool the refrigerant is 123.788\,\frac{kg}{min}.

What's the monomer? Show the structure.
ivolga24 [154]

In order to understand a monomer let´s first see the structure of a polymer. As an example, in the first figure polyethylene (or polyethene) is shown. This polymer, like every other one, is composed of many repeated subunits, these subunits are called monomer. In the second figure, polyethylene's monomer is shown.

The part of a circuit that carries the flow of electrons is referred to as the?
Oksanka [162]

Answer:

  Conductor

Explanation:

Current is carried by a conductor.

__

The purpose of a dielectric and/or insulator is to prevent current flow. An electrostatic field may set up the conditions for current flow, but it carries no current itself.

A plate (A-C) is connected to steelflat bars by pinsat A and B. Member A-E consists of two 6mm by 25mm parallel flat bars. At C,
juin [17]

Answer:

stress_ac = 5.333 MPa

shear stress_c = 1.763 MPa

Explanation:

Given:

- The missing figure is in the attachment.

- The dimensions of member AC = ( 6 x 25 ) mm x 2

- The diameter of the pin d = 19 mm

- Load at point A is P = 2 kN

Find:

-  Find the axial stress in AE and the shear stress in pin C.

Solution:

- The stress in member AE can be calculated using component of force P along the member AE  as follows:

                                    stress_ac = P*cos(Q) / A_ae

Where, Angle Q: A_E_B   and A_ac: cross sectional area of member AE.

                                    cos(Q) = 4 / 5   ..... From figure ( trigonometry )

                                    A_ae = 0.006*0.025*2 = 3*10^-4 m^2

Hence,

                                    stress_ae = 2*(4/5) / 3*10^-4

                                    stress_ae = 5.333 MPa

- The force at pin C can be evaluated by taking moments about C equal zero:

                                   (M)_c = P*6 - F_eb*3

                                      0 = P*6 - F_eb*3

                                      F_eb = 0.5*P

- Sum of horizontal forces for member AC is zero:

                                      P - F_eb - F_c = 0

                                      F_c = 0.5*P

- The shear stress of double shear bolt is given by an expression:

                                     shear stress = shear force / 2*A_pin

Where, The area of the pin C is:

                                     A_pin = pi*d^2 / 4

                                     A_pin = pi*0.019^2 / 4 = 2.8353*10^-4 m^2

Hence,

                                     shear stress = 0.5*P / 2*A_pin

                                     shear stress = 0.5*2 / 2*2.8353*10^-4

                                    shear stress = 1.763 MPa
