Answer: w = 17.2

Step-by-step explanation: If we're asked to solve for <em>w</em> in the equation you see here, what we're really being asked to do is get <em>w</em> by itself on one side of the equation.

So if we take a look at the left side of our equation, 5.8 is being added to <em>w</em>. So in order to get <em>w</em> by itself, we must subtract 5.8 from the left side of the equation. The first rule of solving equations tells us that if we subtract 5.8 from the left side of the equation, we must also subtract 5.8 from the right side of the equation.

So on the left side, our 5.8's cancel out and we're left with <em>w</em>. on the right side of the equation, 23 - 5.8 simplifies to 17<em>.</em>2.

So our answer is <u>w = 17</u><em><u>.</u></em><u>2.</u>

<u />

The nice thing about solving equations is that you can always check your answer by plugging it back in to the original equation.

So here, we're going to plug a 17.2 back in for <em>w</em> in the original equation and we get (17.2) + 5.8 = 23.

Since 17.2 + 5.8 = 23, we know that our answer is correct.

Answer:

solution of the equation is w= 17.2

Step-by-step explanation:

w + 5.8 = 23

w = 23- 5.8

w= 17.2

hence the solution of the equation is w= 17.2

Translate the following problem into an equation: (1) together Jon and Amy spent $29 dollars on a birthday gift. (2) Jon spent $
kolbaska11 [484]
Let the money spent by John = y
and Amy=x

ATQ

x+y = $29

It is given that jon spend 5 more than Amy. SO he spend

x +5

x+y = $29
x+x+5=$29

2x = 29-5

2x= 24

x = 24/2 =12

So Amy spend $ 12 and Jon spend x+5 = 12+5 = $17

Please help me!!!!!!! :)
Lilit [14]
Hello there!

The answer is C.

I will explain to you how I came to this answer.

•First of all, I counted the turning points. There are two, so that means this polynomial function has THREE roots. (# of turning points+1=number of roots.)

•Next, look to see how many times the function crosses the x-axis. This is the number of REAL solutions. In this case, there is one point at which the f(x) is crossing the x-axis so there is one real solution.

•Since there is one real solution there has to be 2 imaginary roots. (Total # of solutions-real solutions=imaginary solutions)

NOTE: the turning points are where the increasing intervals change to decreasing and the decreasing change to increasing. The first derivative at these points is 0.

I hope this helps!
Best wishes~

A square has an area of 100 square meters. What is the perimeter of the square?
ser-zykov [4K]
I guess its 40 meters since
Area of a square is (Length)^2
and The area is 100, so square root that and you get your length which is 10 meters.
and since perimeter is the sum of lengths of sides, and a square has 4 sides, your perimeter is 40 meters! :)
