An inventor proposes an engine that operates between the 27 deg C warm surface layer of the ocean and a 10 deg C layer a few met
SpyIntel [72]

Answer:

Engine not possible

Explanation:

source temperature T1 = 300 K

sink temperature T2= 283 K

therefore, carnot efficiency of the heat engine

η= 1- T_2/T_1

\eta= 1-\frac{T_1}{T_2}

\eta= 1-\frac{283}{300}

= 0.0566

= 5.66%

claims of work produce W = 100 kW,  mass flow rate = 20 kg/s

Q=mc_p(T_1-T_2)

Q=20\times4.18(300-283)

= 1421.2 kW

now \eta= \frac{W}Q}

now \eta= \frac{100}{1421.2}

=7%

clearly, efficiency is greater than carnot efficiency hence the engine is not possible.

What ways are people and their communities impacted by wildfire?
skelet666 [1.2K]

Explanation:

Aren't these all correct? I mean all of these are possibilities, except for the first one and the 5th one. I'll explain them all :)

1) Destruction of wildlife habitat

This doesn't really affect people. Mainly the animals living in the wild, because their homes would get burnt down, or ruined so they need to find a new place to live.

2) Timber Industry Losses

Wildfires can lower job rates in the timber industry, which can leave people struggling, looking for a new job.

3) Transportation Shutdowns

For example, things like trains might not be able to work.

You know those large railroads that are getting held up? Those could get burnt down, or unstable, which could lead to many injuries and preventions to get somewhere.

4) Houses Burned or Damaged

This is probably one of the most well known issues of wildfire.

Because of this, a bunch of citizens might not be able to live anywhere if their home gets burned down. Some people are lucky and have family nearby they can live with, but others don't, forced to live on the streets.

5) Loss of Tourism

This issue really only effects specific people.

Only people who really have any sort of relationship with touring would feel threatened by these changes.

6) Health Problems from Breathing Smoke

Yes, this is a huge issue.

Inhaling harmful smoke can inflame your lungs and airway, causing them to swell and block oxygen. This can lead to acute respiratory distress syndrome and respiratory failure.

7) Loss of places of employment

Just like number 2, this could leave people stranded with nowhere to go. Some might have to become homeless if they can't pay rent, or buy groceries.

8) Town Buildings Burned or Damaged

Think about it-- How would you feel if your town building got burnt down? It would be a huge deal, and will take months; maybe years to rebuild.

I have no clue if I did this the way you wanted, but- here. xd

Ammonia at 20 C with a quality of 50% and a total mass of 2 kg is in a rigid tank with an outlet valve at the bottom. How much s
Veseljchak [2.6K]

Answer:

16.38L

Explanation:

Through laboratory tests, thermodynamic tables were developed, these allow to know all the thermodynamic properties of a substance (entropy, enthalpy, pressure, specific volume, internal energy etc ..)

through prior knowledge of two other properties.

Quality is defined as the ratio between the amount of steam and liquid when a fluid is in a state of saturation, this means that since the quality is 50%, 1kg is liquid and 1kg is steam.

then to solve this problem we find the specific volume for ammonia in a saturated liquid state at 20C, and multiply it by mass (1kg)

v(amonia at 20C)=0.001638m^3/kg

m=(0.01638)(1)=0.01638m^3=16.38L
