Answer:

Farthest from the carbonyl carbon.

Explanation:

Reference carbon that determined the absolute D and L configuration is located farthest from the carbonyl carbon.

In other words, reference carbon is that assymentric carbon which is located farthest from the carbolyl carbon and has configuration similar to D- or L-glyceraldehyde isomers.

D and L configuration is decided by the direction of -OH group attached to the reference carbon.

In L-isomer, -OH group is attached to the left side of the reference carbon and in D-isomer, -OH group is attached to the right side of the reference carbon.

Draw a bond-line structure for CH3CH2O(CH2)2CH(CH3)2.

Include Lone Pairs in your answer.
mash [69]

Answer:

See explanation and image attached

Explanation:

A bond line structure refers to any structure of a covalent molecule wherein the covalent bonds present in the molecule are represented with a single line for each level of bond order.

The bond-line structure of CH3CH2O(CH2)2CH(CH3)2 has been shown in the image attached. We know that oxygen has a lone pair of electrons and this has been clearly shown also in the image attached.

Water can be formed in the following reaction:
andreev551 [17]

Answer is: 10 moles of water will be produced.

Balanced chemical reaction of formation of water:

2H₂ + O₂ → 2H₂O.

n(H₂) = 10 mol; amount of hydrogen gas.

From balanced chemical reaction: n(H₂) : n(H₂O) = 2 : 2 (1 : 1).

n(H₂O) = n(H₂).

n(H₂O) = 10 mol; amount of water.
