Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity

when velocity increases its acceleration

and when the velocity decreases its called decelaration

the formula to calculate acceleration is as follows

a = \frac{v-u}{t}

where

a - acceleration

v - final velocity

u - initial velocity

t - time taken

1. airplane starting at rest means initial velocity - 0 m/s

final velocity - 80 m/s

time - 20 s

substituting the values in the equation

a = (80 m/s - 0 m/s) / 20 s = 80 / 20 = 4 m/s²

the acceleration is 4 m/s² north

2. cyclist starts at rest so initial velocity - 0 m/s

time - 20 s

acceleration - 0.5 m/s²

substituting values in the equation

0.5 m/s² = (v - 0 m/s)/ 20 s

0.5 = v / 20 s

v = 0.5 x 20 = 10 m/s

final velocity is 10 m/s south

According to the formula you have given us to work with . . .

1). The airplane's acceleration is

(80 m/s north - zero) / (20 sec) = 4 m/sec^2 north

2).  For the cyclist:

                                          (V-final - zero) / 20sec = 0.5 m/s^2 south

Multiply each side by 20s :  V-final = 0.5 m/s^2 south x (20sec) =

                                                                                         10 m/s south

P-weight blocks D and E are connected by the rope which passes through pulley B and are supported by the isorectangular prism ar
creativ13 [48]

Answer:

21.8°

Explanation:

Let's call θ the angle between BC and the horizontal.

Draw a free body diagram for each block.

There are 4 forces acting on block D:

Weight force P pulling down,

Normal force N₁ pushing perpendicular to AB,

Friction force N₁μ pushing parallel up AB,

and tension force T pushing parallel up AB.

There are 4 forces acting on block E:

Weight force P pulling down,

Normal force N₂ pushing perpendicular to BC,

Friction force N₂μ pushing parallel to BC,

and tension force T pulling parallel to BC.

Sum of forces on D in the perpendicular direction:

∑F = ma

N₁ − P sin θ = 0

N₁ = P sin θ

Sum of forces on D in the parallel direction:

∑F = ma

T + N₁μ − P cos θ = 0

T = P cos θ − N₁μ

T = P cos θ − P sin θ μ

T = P (cos θ − sin θ μ)

Sum of forces on E in the perpendicular direction:

∑F = ma

N₂ − P cos θ = 0

N₂ = P cos θ

Sum of forces on E in the parallel direction:

∑F = ma

N₂μ + P sin θ − T = 0

T = N₂μ + P sin θ

T = P cos θ μ + P sin θ

T = P (cos θ μ + sin θ)

Set equal:

P (cos θ − sin θ μ) = P (cos θ μ + sin θ)

cos θ − sin θ μ = cos θ μ + sin θ

1 − tan θ μ = μ + tan θ

1 − μ = tan θ μ + tan θ

1 − μ = tan θ (μ + 1)

tan θ = (1 − μ) / (1 + μ)

Plug in values:

tan θ = (1 − 0.4) / (1 + 0.4)

θ = 23.2°

∠BCA = 45°, so the angle of AC relative to the horizontal is 45° − 23.2° = 21.8°.

Savion listed the steps involved when nuclear power plants generate electricity.
OverLord2011 [107]

Answer:

Reorder the steps so that step 4 appears before step 3

Explanation:

In a nuclear power plant, we have;

1) Nuclear reaction between the radio active species and the particles takes place to generate energy in the nucleus of atoms

2) The nuclear energy in the atom is converted into radiant energy, which is the energy found in light, and thermal (heat) energy

3) The produced radiant and thermal energy is released as heat and light

4) With the produced heat, steam is generated

5) The generated steam turns the steam turbines and produced mechanical energy

6) The produced mechanical energy is then converted into electrical energy in the electrical generator of the power plant

To correct Savion's error, Step 4) the light and heat should be released before step 3) the released heat can be used to generate steam, we therefore reorder the steps so that step 4 appears before step 3.

An apparatus similar to the one used in lab uses an oscillating motor at one end to vibrate a long rope with frequency f = 40 Hz
Mice21 [21]

Answer:

The displacement in t = 0,

y (0) = - 0.18 m

Explanation:

Given f = 40 Hz , A = 0.25m , μ = 0.02 kg / m, T = 20.48 N

v = √ T / μ

v = √20.48 N / 0.02 kg /m = 32 m/s

λ = v / f

λ = 32 m/s / 40 Hz = 0.8

K = 2 π / λ

K = 2π / 0.8 = 7.854

φ = X * 360 / λ

φ = 0.5 * 360 / 0.8 = 225 °

Using the model of y' displacement

y (t) = A* sin ( w * t - φ )

When t = 0

y (0) = 0.25 m *sin ( w*(0) - 225 )

y (0) = 0.25 * -0.707

y (0) = - 0.18 m
