The atomic mass is the number of ______+______ in an atom.
Juli2301 [7.4K]

Hello!

In chemistry, atomic mass is normally written in amu. This stands for atomic mass units.

Within an atom, there are three main parts: protons, neutrons, and electrons. Between these three, electrons are extremely light. However, protons and neutrons both weigh 1 amu.

Thus, this means to get the atomic mass, add together the protons + neutrons.

Hope this helps!

An electron is accelerated by a potential difference of 50v, what is the de broglie wavelength?
Scrat [10]

Answer:

1.73553\times 10^{-10}\ m

Explanation:

h = Planck's constant = 6.626\times 10^{-34}\ m^2kg/s

K = Potential difference = 50 V

m = Mass of electron = 9.11\times 10^{-31}\ kg

The de broglie wavelength is given by

\lambda=\dfrac{h}{\sqrt{2mK}}\\\Rightarrow \lambda=\dfrac{6.626\times 10^{-34}}{\sqrt{2\times 9.11\times 10^{-31}\times 50\times 1.6\times 10^{-19}}}\\\Rightarrow \lambda=1.73553\times 10^{-10}\ m

The wavelength is 1.73553\times 10^{-10}\ m

Each bat can produce different frequencies of ultrasound. Explain why this is useful if there are many bats hunting together.
Crazy boy [7]

Answer: Although low frequency sound travels further than high-frequency sound, calls at higher frequencies give the bats more detailed information--such as size, range, position, speed and direction of a prey's flight. Thus, these sounds are used more often.
