Answer:

y=9x-17; x=17/9 or x=1 8/9 or x=1.8

y=x+23; x= -23

Step-by-step explanation:

y=9x-17

0=9x-17 (Move variables to the left-hand side and change its sign)

-9x=-17 (Divide both sides of the equation by -9)

x=17/9, x=1 8/9, or x=1.8

y=x+23

0=x+23 (To find x-intercept/zero, substitute y=0)

-x=23 (Move variable to the left-hand side and change its sign)

x= -23 (Change the signs on both sides of the equation)

x= -23

Answer:

x=4

Step-by-step explanation:

1 Add 11 to both sides.

2x=7+12x=7+1

2 Simplify 7+17+1 to 88.

2x=82x=8

3 Divide both sides by 22.

What is an equation that relates weight on earth and weight on the moom
stellarik [79]
W=mg

Where:

Weight = mass * acceleration due to gravity

So let's say I want to work out my weight on the moon. I know I weigh about 70kg (which would be N), but I can't use that figure for the calculation on the moon. That is what I weigh on Earth, so let's look at the equation...

70kg = mass * 9.81m/s^2

Where 9.81m/s^2 is the acceleration due to gravity on the surface on the earth. I want to get rid of that, so let's work out my mass by division;

70/9.81 = 7.14kg

I googled the acceleration of gravity on the Moon, which was = 1.6m/s^2

Let's use that in the same equation W=mg

W = 7.14kg * 1.6m/s^2 = 11.42N

On the Moon, you would weigh approximately one sixth of your weight on Earth, so if your bathroom scales tell you you weigh 120 pounds, there you would weigh 20 pounds.

Moon`s gravitational pull is about one-sixth to the gravitational pull on earth hence weight on moon is about one-sixth of the weight on earth.

A rope is used to anchor a boat to the shore. The angle of depression from the boat to the water is 40° . The height of the boat
IrinaVladis [17]

Please refer the attached figure for better understanding of the solution

Here we are given that the angle of depression is 40°

And the height of the boat from the water is 25.17 ft

we need to find the length of the rope used which we can take as x

We can see that sin is the ratio that corresponds to the opposite side and the hypotenuse sides of the triangle formed

so we have

sin 40° = \frac{25.17}{x}

x=\frac{25.17}{sin 40}

x=\frac{25.17}{0.6427}

x= 39.16

Hence the length of the rope needed is 39.16 ft

The product of four less than a number and nine is fifteen
*Need help on this please
densk [106]

Answer:

The easiest way is to determine what number times 9 equals 15.

9x = 15

x = 15 / 9 = 5/3

The original number is 4 + 5/3 = 5 (2/3)

Then we look at the problem again,

5 and (2/3) minus 4 = 5/3 and

5/3 * 9 = 45/3 = 9
