Mixture is composed of molecules of different types. A compound can only be separated through chemical means. While a compound is a pure substance that contains 2 or more elements chemically combined together while a mixture are formed when two substances are added together without chemical bonds being formed.

In a molecule of calcium sulfide, calcium has two valence electron bonds, and a sulfur atom has six valence electrons. How many
mote1985 [20]

There are none

Further explanation

Given

a molecule of calcium sulfide

two valence electron of Calcium(Ca)

six valence electrons of Sulfur(S)

Required

number of lone pairs of electrons

Solution

Lewis structure shows the form of bonds that occur in the valence electrons of an element or compound

Valence electrons are electrons used in a chemical bond

To achieve stability, the element S needs 2 more electrons which are obtained from 2 electrons from the Ca element,

A lone pair electron means refers to an unshared pair of electrons(not bonding to the other atoms)

This condition usually occurs in covalent bonds

As we know, the bond between Ca, which is a group 2 (metal) with Sulfur in group 16, is an ionic bond because it occurs between metal and non-metal ions, so there is no sharing of electrons, but there is a release of electrons from Ca ions to S ions to form an octet. , so all the valence electrons in S are paired

Do metals or nonmetals have the greatest tendency to lose electrons and become positive ions?
vekshin1

Answer:

The metals have the tedency to lose electrons and become positive ions

Explanation:

In order to attain noble gases electronic configuration, metals of group I A lose one electron and II A lose 2 electrons with ionization energy.

Calculate the mass of sucrose necessary to make a 5% by mass sucrose solution if the solution contains 50.0 ml of distilled wate
Serhud [2]

Answer: 2.5g

Explanation:

5 % sucrose solution means that 5 % of the weight of the solution is sucrose.

If 1 liter of water weighs 1000 grams. To prepare 5% sucrose solution 5/100 x 1000 = 50 grams. Since 1 liter equals 1000ml, thus a 5 % solution has 50 grams of solute dissolved in one liter.

To prepare 5% sucrose solution in 50mls

=5/100 x 50

= 0.05 x 50

= 2.5g

Therefore to prepare 5% sucrose solution in 50mls we dissolve 2.5g of sucrose in 50ml of water
