Hey there :)

Both the shapes are similar
We can notice that through the angles given

Therefore, we can use ratios to find the segment ZY

WX : EH = 7 : 5
ZY : FG = ? : 7

\frac{7}{5} = \frac{ZY}{7}

We can cross multiply
7 ( 7 ) = 5 ( ZY )
49 = 5( ZY )

Divide by 5 in order to find the answer
\frac{49}{5} = \frac{5(ZY)}{5}

Segment ZY = 9.8

Crude oil imports to one country from another for 2009–2013 could be approximated by the following model where t is time in year
DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

Import in 2012 was the greatest

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

l(t) = -33t² + 800t - 3000

9 ≤ t ≤ 13

Required

Determine the year with highest import.

To do this we simply substitute the values of t from 9 to 13 in the given function.

When t = 9

l(t) = -33t² + 800t - 3000

l(9) = -33 * 9² + 800 * 9 - 3000

l(9) = -33 * 81 + 800 * 9 - 3000

l(9) = -2673 + 7200 -3000

l(9) = 1527

When t = 10

l(10) = -33 * 10² + 800 * 10 - 3000

l(10) = -33 * 100 + 800 * 10 - 3000

l(10) = -3300 + 8000 - 3000

l(10) = 1700

When t = 11

l(11) = -33 * 11² + 800 * 11 - 3000

l(11) = -33 * 121 + 800 * 11 - 3000

l(11) = -3993 + 8800 - 3000

l(11) = 1807

When t = 12

l(12) = -33 * 12² + 800 * 12 - 3000

l(12) = -33 * 144 + 800 * 12 - 3000

l(12) = -4752 + 9600 - 3000

l(12) = 1848

When t = 13

l(13) = -33 * 13² + 800 * 13 - 3000

l(13) = -33 * 169 + 800 * 13 - 3000

l(13) = -5577 + 10400 - 3000

l(13) = 1823

Comparing the values of l(t) for the range of t = 9 to 13,

The highest value of l(t) is:

l(12) = 1848

Hence, the year with the highest import is 2012

The Better Nutter Butter Co packed 400 lb. of peanut butter into jars holding 2.5 lbs. each. How many jars were used?
Rus_ich [418]

Answer:

160 jars

Step-by-step explanation:

To find how many jars were used, we just need to divide the amount of stuff by the amount of stuff a jar can hold.

400 (the amount of peanut number in pounds) / 2.5 (the amount of peanut butter each jar can hold) = 160.

So, 160 jars were used to package the 400 pounds of peanut butter.

Talia uses 10 strawberries and 4 oranges to make 8 servings of fruit salad. How many oranges and strawberries does Taila needs t
yarga [219]
Since 12 is 8 x 1 1/2 she needs 1 1/2 time as much fruit.

1 1/2 x 10 = 15 strawberries  and 1 1/2 x 4 = 6 oranges.

You could also solve this using proportions:

\frac{10}{8} =  \frac{n}{12}

Cross multiply and get 8n= 120  divide by 8 and get 15 strawberries

Do the same for the oranges:

\frac{4}{8} =  \frac{n}{12}

You can see that 4/8 = 1/2 so n/12 has to be 6 to be 1/2 (or solve it using cross products like I did above).

Initially 100 milligrams of a radioactive substance was present. After 8 hours the mass had decreased by 2%. If the rate of deca
4vir4ik [10]

Answer:

The half life of the radioactive substance is 277 hours.

Step-by-step explanation:

initial mass, No = 100 mg

mass decayed = 2% = 2 mg

Mass remained , N = 98 mg

time, t = 8 hours

Let the half life is T.

Use the equation of radioactivity

N = No\times e^{\frac{-0.693 t}{T}}\\\\98 = 100 \times e^{\frac{-0.693\times 8}{T}}\\\\0.98 = e^{\frac{-5.54}{T}}\\\\ln 0.98 = -\frac{5.54}{T}\\\\-0.02= -\frac{5.54}{T}\\\\T =  277 hours
