Answer:

Percent yield = 86.2%

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of zinc = 3.68 g

Mass of zinc chloride = ?

Percent yield = ?

Actual yield = 7.12 g

Solution:

Chemical equation:

Zn + 2HCl  → ZnCl₂  + H₂

Number of moles of zinc:

Number of moles  = Mass /molar mass

Number of moles = 3.68 g / 65.38 g/mol

Number of moles  = 0.06 mol

Now we will compare the moles of ZnCl₂ with zinc.

                 Zn            :               ZnCl₂

                  1               :               1

                 0.06           :            0.06

Theoretical yield of zinc chloride:

Mass of ZnCl₂ = moles × molar mass

Mass of ZnCl₂ = 0.06 mol × 136.286 g/mol

Mass of ZnCl₂ =  8.2 g

Percent yield:

Percent yield = actual yield / theoretical yield × 100

Percent yield = 7.12 g/ 8.2 g × 100

Percent yield = 86.2%

<u>Stoichiometry</u>

  • Reading a Periodic Table
  • Using Dimensional Analysis
<h3>Explanation:</h3>

<u>Step 1: Define</u>

[RxN - Balanced] 2Mg + O₂ → 2MgO

[Given] 5.8332 g Mg

<u>Step 2: Identify Conversions</u>

[RxN] 2 mol Mg = 2 mol MgO

Molar Mass of Mg - 24.31 g/mol

Molar Mass of O - 16.00 g/mol

Molar Mass of MgO - 24.31 + 16.00 = 40.31 g/mol

<u>Step 3: Stoichiometry</u>

  1. Set up:                              \displaystyle 5.8332 \ g \ Mg(\frac{1 \ mol \ Mg}{24.31 \ g \ Mg})(\frac{2 \ mol \ MgO}{2 \ mol \ Mg})(\frac{40.31 \ g \ MgO}{1 \ mol \ MgO})
  2. Multiply/Divide:                                                                                               \displaystyle 9.67241 \ g \ MgO

<u>Step 4: Check</u>

<em>Follow sig fig rules and round. We are given 5 sig figs.</em>

9.67241 g MgO ≈ 9.6724 g MgO

Acetylene gas, C2H2, can be produced by the reaction of calcium carbide and water. CaC2(s) + 2H2O(l) --&gt; C2H2(g) + Ca(OH)2(aq
nekit [7.7K]

Answer:

1.0 L

Explanation:

Given that:-

Mass of CaC_2 = 2.54\ g

Molar mass of CaC_2 = 64.099 g/mol

The formula for the calculation of moles is shown below:

moles = \frac{Mass\ taken}{Molar\ mass}

Thus,

Moles= \frac{2.54\ g}{64.099\ g/mol}

Moles_{CaC_2}= 0.0396\ mol

According to the given reaction:-

CaC_2_{(s)} + 2H_2O_{(l)}\rightarrow C_2H_2_{(g)} + Ca(OH)_2_{(aq)}

1 mole of CaC_2 on reaction forms 1 mole of C_2H_2

0.0396 mole of CaC_2 on reaction forms 0.0396 mole of C_2H_2

Moles of C_2H_2 = 0.0396 moles

Considering ideal gas equation as:-

PV=nRT

where,

P = pressure of the gas = 742 mmHg

V = Volume of the gas = ?

T = Temperature of the gas = 26^oC=[26+273]K=299K

R = Gas constant = 62.3637\text{ L.mmHg }mol^{-1}K^{-1}

n = number of moles = 0.0396 moles

Putting values in above equation, we get:

742mmHg\times V=0.0396 mole\times 62.3637\text{ L.mmHg }mol^{-1}K^{-1}\times 299K\\\\V=\frac{0.0396\times 62.3637\times 299}{742}\ L=1.0\ L

<u>1.0 L of acetylene  can be produced from 2.54 g CaC_2.</u>

Why does the sun seem to change position in the sky?
Blababa [14]

The first major contributor to the Sun's apparent motion is the fact that Earth orbits the Sun while tilted on its axis. The Earth's axial tilt of approximately 23.5° ensures that observers at different locations will see the Sun reach higher-or-lower positions above the horizon throughout the year.

hope this helps ^^
