Answer:

Which of the following will most likely be prescribed for her? C. Melatonin.

Explanation:

Melatonin is a hormone that is involved in the natural sleep cycle. We can find it in our blood, it's levels are higher during the night and is produced by the pineal gland located in the brain.

It is used to treat sleeping disorders such as insomnia or in this particular Fatema's example, jet lag, which is a time zone desynchronization as a result of traveling to different time zones in short periods of time.

Mekhanik [1.2K]

Answer:

The decision of the Supreme Court affected the US citizens' right to freedom of speech.

Explanation:

Charles Schenck was the general secretary of the US Social Party. Socialists were against the world war that was occurring at the time since they believed that the US involvement only benefited the rich. The poor soldiers were the ones who were sent to fight. As a result, socialists also urged US workers to oppose the war. Schenck participated in many anti war activities and he mailed leaflets to soldiers trying to convince them of resisting the draft. As he violated the Espionage Act, because he caused insubordination in the military forces, he was convicted. However, after being tried, Schenck argued that his right to freedom of speech protected by the 1st Amendment of the US Constitution had been violated. The Espionage Act limited the freedom of speech in times of war. For the Court, Schenck's actions had put other people at risk. As a result, in wartime reasonable limits can be put the 1st Amendment's provision governing freedom of speech.

Aneli [31]

Answer:

The CS would be the decaffeinated coffee.

The CR would be feeling more alert (after drinking it)

Explanation:

Conditioning learning is an style of learning where a conditioned stimulus is associated with an unconditioned stimulus and they produce a conditioned behavioral response.

(1) In this learning, at first, the unconditioned stimulus (UCS) is an stimulus that produces a response by itself in a natural way, thus, the UCS acts as a naturally occurring trigger that leads to a natural response.

(2) This natural response that the UCS triggers is called the unconditioned response (UCR), thus, the UCR is a natural response to the unconditioned stimulus.

(3) The conditioned stimulus (CS) is what comes next in the process, and this is an stimulus that does not create a response on its own but when it's paired with the UCS, and after some repetitions, it creates a response which is learned. Thus, the CS is an stimulus that becomes able to produce a learned response by being paired with the original unconditioned stimulus.

(4) This conditionally learned response that was learned because of said pairing is called conditional response (CR), thus the CR is a learned response to a conditioned stimulus.

(5) We said in paragraph (3) that the conditioned stimulus did not create a response on its own but once it's paired with the UCS it creates a learned behavior.

Bill always starts his day with a cup of strong coffee (which by itself makes him feel more alert). One day, her mom make him a cup of coffee in the morning but he was surprised to find out it was decaffeinated since he had felt more alert after drinking it anyway.

The strong coffee would be the Unconditioned stimulus which by itself triggers the response of feeling more alert after drinking it(Unconditioned response).

Bill has paired the act of having a cup of coffee with this sensation.

The CS is the stimulus that doesn't create a response on its own, in this example the CS would be the decaffeinated coffee which by itself doesn't have the effects that a regular coffee has.

However, since Robert has associated the cup of coffee with feeling alert he felt that way when he had this other coffee, thus, the CR in this case would be feeling alert after having the cup of coffee (in this case, decaffeinated)

Answer: First Question.

A. PARASYMPATHETIC BRANCH

Second Question (Question 3)

D. THE MOLECULAR GATES OPEN TO ALLOW SODIUM IONS INTO THE NEURON

Explanation:

PARASYMPATHETIC BRANCH

The Parasympathetic Nervous which at times is referred to as the "rest and digest" system is one of 3 divisions in the Autonomic Nervous System.

It conserves energy as it slows the heart and increases intestinal and gland activity. It essentially takes over when one relaxes from an exciting ordeal.

ACTION POTENTIAL

During an Action Potential, a part of the neural membrane/ molecular gates open up to allow positively charged ions inside the cell and negative ones out.

With sodium being a positive ion, channels open up and positive sodium cells surge into the cell in preparation for an electrical signal being sent down the axon once a threshold has been reached.
