If you do 0.2 x 40, you get 8. So, 0.2% of 40 is equal to 8.

Mike and three of his friends charger about to go on a deep-sea fishing trip the trip cost $549 which they were split evenly my
sveta [45]
Steps:

$549/4 people
= $137.25/person

20% of $137.25
= 0.2 x 137.25
= $27.45

$27.45 + $137.25
= $164.70

therefore, mike will pay $164.70: $27.45 as a tip to the deckhand and $137.25 for his individual share of the entire trip.

Rearranging literal equations ASAP NEED HELP
Tju [1.3M]

When we look at this thing for the first time, it looks like it's going to be a dog of a bear to solve, because 'q' is buried inside a squared term and a cubed term.

But this is why it's so important to learn that in math, you DON't immediately ignite your hair and go running around in circles as soon as you see the problem. The first thing you have to do every time is sit still, look at the problem, breathe air, and switch your brain into the 'ON' position.

Look at that big ugly fraction in the equation. Can it be simplified ? You betcha it can ! The quantity (q+r) is a factor of the numerator and denominator, so we can do some canceling.

Divide the top and the bottom of the fraction by (q+r)², and then the problem says . . .

p = (q+r)/12 + 4r

which is MUCH easier to unravel and solve for 'q' . Let's do this !

p = (q+r)/12 + 4r

Subtract (q+r)/12 from each side . . . p - (q+r)/12 = 4r

Subtract 'p' from each side . . . -(q+r)/12 = 4r - p

Multiply each side by -1 . . . (q+r)/12 = p - 4r

Multiply each side by 12 . . . (q+r) = 12p - 48r

Subtract 'r' from each side . . . q = 12p - 49r

Kayla was asked to rewrite the polynomial expression, x^2+6x+9 How could she rewrite the polynomial?
AURORKA [14]

You may use the quadratic formula to look for the solutions x_1,x_2 of this equation, and then factor the polynomial as (x-x_1)(x-x_2)

In this case, though, you can see that the polynomial follows the rule

x^2+2ax+a^2

if a=3

And since we have

x^2+2ax+a^2 = (x+a)^2

You can rewrite the polynomial as

x^2+6x+9=(x+3)^2
