The nucleus!! This is made up of protons and neutrons that each weigh about 1 amu.

Electrons are not found in the nucleus and weigh almost nothing so chemistry in school doesn’t bother with them :)

A proton is fired toward a lead nucleus from very far away. How much initial kinetic energy does the proton need to reach a turn
Olegator [25]

Answer:

The electric force is conservative.

Since

ΔK = −ΔU,

Kf − Ki =Ui −Uf.

We have,

Kf = 0

Ui = 0.

Thus Ki =Uf.

so ,at 10 fm Uf = (2×10)−12 J.

If phosphorous has 5 valence electrons, how many does sulfur have?
VARVARA [1.3K]

Answer:

6

Explanation:

The atomic number for phosphorous is 15, meaning that it has 15 electrons (and protons). The first and second shells would be filled up with 2 and 8 electrons respectively, leaving 5 which goes on the third shell, which is also the valence shell, meaning phosphorous has 5 valence electrons.

Since the atomic number of sulfur is 16, the first and second shells are also filled up with 2 and 8 electrons respectively, leaving 6 to be on the third shell, the valence shell. Hence, sulfur has 6 valence electrons.

Rate law equation The rate of a chemical reaction depends on the concentrations of the reactants. For the general reaction betwe
shusha [124]

Answer: The reaction order with respect to A is m

Explanation:

Order of the reaction is defined as the sum of the concentration of terms on which the rate of the reaction actually depends. It is the sum of the exponents of the molar concentration in the rate law expression.

Elementary reactions are defined as the reactions for which the order of the reaction is same as its molecularity and order with respect to each reactant is equal to its stoichiometric coefficient as represented in the balanced chemical reaction.

For the given reaction:

aA+bB\rightleftharpoons cC+dD

Rate=k[A]^m[B]^n

In this equation, the order with respect to each reactant is not equal to its stoichiometric coefficient which is represented in the balanced chemical reaction.

Hence, this is not considered as an elementary reaction.

Order with respect to A = m

Order with respect to B = n

Overall order = m+n

Thus order with respect to A is m.
