Here we have to choose the absolute pressure inside the container among the given options.

The absolute pressure inside the container is E. 286.7 kPa.

The absolute pressure of a container is the summation of the pressure of the container in vacuum or the gauge pressure and outside air pressure.

So, mathematically we can write:

Absolute pressure = Gauge pressure  + Outside air pressure.

In this container the gauge pressure is 185.4 kilopascals (kPa).

We know the standard air pressure is 101.325 kpa.

Thus the absolute pressure inside the container is (101.325 + 185.4) = 286.7 kPa.

Henceforth,  the absolute pressure inside the container is option E. 286.7 kPa.

Hydrogen peroxide can act as either an oxidizing agent or a reducing agent depending on the species present in solution. Write t
Gekata [30.6K]

Answer:

Reduction: 2 H⁺(aq) + H₂O₂(aq) + 2 e⁻ ⇒ 2 H₂O(l)

Oxidation: H₂O₂(aq) ⇒ O₂(g) + 2 H⁺(aq) + 2 e⁻

Explanation:

In H₂O₂, hydrogen has the oxidation number +1 and oxygen the oxidation number -1.

In the reduction half-reaction (H₂O₂ is the oxidizing agent), H₂O₂ forms H₂O. The oxidation number of oxygen decreases from -1 to -2.

2 H⁺(aq) + H₂O₂(aq) + 2 e⁻ ⇒ 2 H₂O(l)

In the oxidation half-reduction (H₂O₂ is the reducing agent), H₂O₂ forms O₂. The oxidation number of oxygen increases  from -1 to 0.

H₂O₂(aq) ⇒ O₂(g) + 2 H⁺(aq) + 2 e⁻

A sample of Ammonia gas at 650mmHg and 15 degree has a mass of 56.8g.calculate the volume occupied by the gas. Take N=14, H=1,R=
avanturin [10]

Answer:

The first thing we have to do is change and state all the units so that we can use our ideal gas law equation (PV = nRT).

650 mmHg is a pressure unit, we have to convert this to kiloPascals. We know that 760 mmHg gives us 101 kPa.

650 \ mmHg \ * \ \frac{101kPa}{760 mmHg} = 86 \ kPa

P = 86kPa

T = 15°C + 273K = 288K

R (Gas constant) = 8.31 kj/mol

Molar mass of Ammonia (NH_{3}) = (1 x 3) + (14) = 17g/mol

n (moles) = \frac{mass}{molar \ mass} = \frac{56.8}{17} = 3.34 mol

V = ?

Rearrange the equation to solve for Volume:

V = \frac{nRT}{P}

Substitute the values inside:

V = \frac{(3.34)(8.31)(288)}{(86)} = 93 L (rounded)

<u>Therefore 93 L of volume is occupied by the ammonia gas.</u>
