Past data indicate that the amount of money contributed by the working residents of large two cities to a volunteer rescue squad

is normally distributed. Based on 9 observations, city 1 has a sample standard deciation of $1.10 and based on 6 observation from city 2, sample standard deviation is equal to $2.90. State and conclude your hypothesis at the 0.05 level of significance if the variance in city 1 is less than the variance in city 2.

Answer:

F=\frac{s^2_1}{s^2_2}=\frac{1.10^2}{2.9^2}=0.144

p_v =P(F_{8,5}

Since the p value is lower than the significance level we have enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis and we can conclude tha the variance in city 1 is less than the variance in city 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Data given

n_1 = 9 represent the sampe size for group 1

n_2 =6 represent the sample size for group 2

s_1 = 1.10 represent the sample deviation for group 1

s_2 = 2.90 represent the sample deviation for group 2

\alpha=0.05 represent the significance level provided

Confidence =0.95 or 95%

Solution to the problem

System of hypothesis

We want to test  if the variance in city 1 is less than the variance in city 2., so the system of hypothesis are:

H0: \sigma^2_1 \geq \sigma^2_2

H1: \sigma^2_1

Calculate the statistic

The statistic is given by:

F=\frac{s^2_1}{s^2_2}

Replacing we got:

F=\frac{s^2_1}{s^2_2}=\frac{1.10^2}{2.9^2}=0.144

We need to find the degrees of freedom. For the numerator we have n_1 -1 =9-1=8 and for the denominator we have n_2 -1 =6-1=5 and the F statistic present 8 degrees of freedom for the numerator and 5 for the denominator.

P value

p_v =P(F_{8,5}

Since the p value is lower than the significance level we have enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis and we can conclude tha the variance in city 1 is less than the variance in city 2

A 16-oz bottle of water costs $1.44. What is the cost per ounce?
SVETLANKA909090 [29]
1.44 divided by 16 which is 0.09 and to check answer you take 0.09 and multiply by 15 and you get 1.44

What is the average rate of change from x = 0 to x = 4?
hammer [34]
1) find the corresponding y values for when x = 0 and when x = 4,
when x = 0, y = 4
when x = 4, y = 4

the coordinates are (0,4) and (4,4)

2) to calculate the average rate of change, find the slope of the two points:

(0,4) (4,4)

(change in y) 4 - 4 = 0
(change in x) 4 - 0 = 4

0/4 = 0

the average rate of change is 0!

PWEASE HELP IF YOUBARE GOOD AT MATH
Novosadov [1.4K]
<h3>Answer: 2</h3>

=========================================================

Explanation:

The function f(x) = -4x+1 is the same as y = -4x+1 where y = f(x)

Compare this to y = mx+b and we see the slope here is m = -4

---------

Now let's find the slope of g(x)

use the slope formula with any two rows you want. I'll pick on the last two rows.

m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

m = (21-9)/(3-1)

m = 12/2

m = 6 is the slope of g(x)

---------

From here, we add the two slope values

(slope of f)+(slope of g) = -4+6 = 2

I NEED HELP PLEASEEEEEE
dybincka [34]

Answer:

A. The function is always decreasing

Step-by-step explanation:

we read a graph from left to right, so we can always compare the increase/decrease of a function by seeing how an x value compares with an x value to the left

(I am aware that this paragraph is really confusing)

we can see that as x increases, from -∞ to 0,

y decreases in correspondence

and that as x increases, from 0 to ∞,

y decreases in correspondence also

So, even though the graph doesn't quite look like it, when x < 0; the function decreases, when x > 0; function decreases--so the function is always decreasing

hope this helps!! have a lovely day :)
