Which of the following best represents and explains the formula for a compound made from carbon and hydrogen? CH4, because four

electron pairs are shared between carbon and hydrogen. CH2, because two electron pairs are shared between carbon and hydrogen. CH4, because each hydrogen contributes four electrons to the bonds. CH2, because each carbon contributes two electrons to the bonds.

A compound is formed when two or more elements combine in definite proportions. In the given scenario we have carbon and hydrogen atoms.

The valence electron configuration of C = 2s²2p²

H = 1s¹

There are 4 valence electrons in carbon; one paired (2s) and two unpaired (2p). Promotion of a 2s electron to a 2p orbital leaves 4 unpaired electrons which can combine with 4 H atoms to form a stable compound: CH4

Ans: (a) CH4, because four electron pairs are shared between carbon and hydrogen.

Lerok [7]
CCl4 is a non polar molecule because though each of the C-Cl bond is polar but the resultant of all these dipole moments is zero as its a symmetrical tetrahedral shape molecule ,and their is a cancellation of dipole moment in each pair.

Hexokinase iv has a km value that is substantially higher than the km for other hexokinases. what is the significance of this fa
grin007 [14]
The Km is the MIchealis-Menten constant and this represents the affinity of the enzyme to its substrate. The higher the value for Km, the higher is the affinity of the enzyme to a substrate and the greater is the rate of reaction. Hexokinase IV has a higher Km than other hexokinases because it has a higher affinity to hexose substrates.

A plane has a cruising speed of 100 miles per hour when there is no wind. At this speed, the plane flew 600 miles with the wind
alina1380 [7]
The solution for this problem is:
Let x = speed of wind

Speed of plane with the wind = x + 100

Speed of plane against the wind = 100 -x

We will be using the formula for distance which is (Rate)(Time), getting the formula for time would be distance/rate Time to travel 600 miles with the wind = Time to travel 400 miles against the wind 600/(x + 100) = 400/(100 - x)

400(x + 100) = 600(100 - x)

400x + 40000 = 60000 - 600x

1000x = 20000

x = 20000/1000

x = 20 mph
