Sally started at the starting point.

She walked 10m forward.  So far, she walked 10m, and she was 10m from the starting point.

Then she walked 5m backward.  So far, she walked 15m, but she was only 5m from the starting point.

The distance she walked was 15m.  But her displacement is how far she is from the starting point ... that's only 5m

Displacement = 5 meters

Distance = 15 meters

Displacement is 10m less than distance walked.  <em>(B)</em>

===> If she kept going and walked <u><em>another </em></u>5m backward, she would be back where she started.  The total distance she walked would be 20m, and her displacement would be zero !

A mosquito flies toward you with a velocity of 2.4 km/h [E]. If a distance of 35.0 m separates you and the mosquito initially, a
tangare [24]

First convert the speed of mosquito to m/s:

So the mosquito is flying at (2,400/3,600) m/s, or ⅔ m/s.

<span>

Since you are moving at 2m/s, so this makes the closing velocity between you and the mosquito to be 2⅔ m/s. </span>

Therefore the mosquito will hit your sunglasses at:<span>

35 m / (2⅔ m/s) = 13⅛ seconds.

2.0 m/s * 13⅛ s = 26¼ m from your initial position.

<span>⅔ m/s * 13⅛ s = 8¾ m from the mosquito's initial position. </span></span>

A 5.2 cm diameter circular loop of wire is in a 1.35 T magnetic field. The loop is removed from the field in 0.29 sec. Assume th
Katyanochek1 [597]

Answer:

9.88 milivolt

Explanation:

Given: diameter d = 5.2 cm

magnetic field B_1 = 1.35 T, final magnetic field B_2 =0 T

t = 0.29 sec.

we know emf =  - dΦ/dt

and flux Φ = BA

A= area

therefore emf ε = -A(B_2-B_1)/Δt

=-\pi(d/2)^2\frac{B_2-B_1}{\Delta t} \\=-\pi(0.052/2)^2\frac{0-1.35}{0.29} \\=98.8\times10^4\\=9.88 mV

If a negatively charged particle enters a region of uniform magnetic field which is perpendicular to the particle's velocity, wi
lys-0071 [83]

Answer:

Same

Explanation:

While moving through a magnetic field in a direction perpendicular to a B-field, a continuous force experienced by a charged particle. If this magnetic field remains uniform, the force exerted also remains same and hence the velocity with which the particle is moving remains same. However, the particle is forced to move on a curved path until it forms a complete circle.

Hence, the kinetic energy remains the same because the speed is same

A syringe containing 12.0 mL of dry air at 25 C is placed in a sterilizer and heated to 100.0 C. The syringe is sealed, but th
monitta

Answer:

15.01 Liters

Explanation:

T₁ = Initial temperature = 25°C = 298.15 K

T₂ = Final temperature = 100°C = 373.15 K

V₁ = Initial volume = 12 mL

Here, pressure is constant so we apply Charles Law

\frac{V_1}{T_1}=\frac{V_2}{T_2}\\\Rightarrow {V_2}=\frac{V_1}{T_1}\times T_2\\\Rightarrow {V_2}=\frac{12}{298.15}\times 373.15\\\Rightarrow {V_2}=15.01 L

∴ Final volume at 100°C is 15.01 Liters.
