A Dodge Stealth is driving at 70 mph on a highway. It passes a BMW going the same direction. The BMW is moving 7 mph backward relative the Dodge. 63 mph is the velocity of the BMW

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

Given is the speed of the dodge stealth as 70 mph passing by the BMW moving with 7 mph relative to Dodge. Thereby, to calculate the velocity of BMW, relative velocity concept has to be employed.

As we know that the relative velocity tells us about relative velocity of mobile reference system as the difference or sum of the initial reference system.

Therefore,

velocity of the BMW =  v_{b}

Velocity of the dodge = v_{d}

Velocity of the BMW with respect to dodge = V_{b d}

As per the formula,

                     v_{b d}=v_{b}-v_{d}

        v_{b} = v_{d} + v_{b d} = 70 + (-7) = 70 - 7 = 63 \mathrm{mph}

A vacuum tube can be used to__. A. change alternating current into direct current B. increase the strength of a signal.. C. turn
vesna_86 [32]

The correct answer of this question is : A) Change alternating current into direct current.

EXPLANATION :

As per the question, we are given vacuum tube. Vacuum tube can be of various types. Normally it contains two electrodes called cathode and anode which are enclosed in an evacuated glass chamber . There are also other types of vacuum tubes which contain extra electrodes like control grid .

The vacuum tube can be used as a rectifier. It means that it can be used as an electronic device which will convert alternating current into direct current. It may be a half wave rectifier or a full wave rectifier. Actually the direct current obtained during the rectification of alternating current is pulsating in nature.

Hence, the correct answer is that a vacuum tube can be used to change alternating current into direct current.

A batter hits a foul ball. The 0.140-kg baseball that was approaching him at 40.0 m/s leaves the bat at 30.0 m/s in a direction
lara31 [8.8K]

Answer

7 Ns

Explanation

Given in the question,

mass of foul ball = 0.140 kg

initial speed with which ball was hit with the bat = 30 m/s

final speed  = 40 m/s

According to the scenario the whole scene is making a right angle triangle

So, to the solve the question we will use pythagorus theorem

Hypotenuse² = base² + height²

Here,

Hypotenuse= Magnitude of impulse

Base = 1st change of momentum

height = 2nd change of momentum

1st impulse (1st change of momentum)

p = m(1)v(1) = (0.14 kg)(40.0 m/s) = 5.6 kg m / s = 5.6 N s

2nd impulse (2nd change of momentum)

p = m(2)v(2) = (0.14 kg)(30.0 m/s) = 4.2 kg m / s = 4.2 N s

Magnitude of impulse (hypotenuse of triangle)

impulse² = (5.6)² + (4.2)²

impulse² = 31.36 + 17.64

impulse² = 49

impulse² = √49

impulse = 7.0 N s

21. Calculate the acceleration of the bus from point D to E. Show your work.
Marat540 [252]

21) Acceleration from D to E: 1 m/s^2

22) The acceleration of the bus from D to E is 1 m/s^2

Explanation:

21)

The acceleration of an object is equal to the rate of change of velocity of the object. Mathematically:

a=\frac{v-u}{t}

where

u is the initial velocity

v is the final velocity

t is the time elapsed

In this problem, we want to measure the acceleration of the bus from point D to point E. We have:

- Initial velocity at point D: u = 0

- Final velocity at point E: v = 5 m/s

- Time elapsed from D to E: t = 21 - 16 = 5 s

Therefore, the acceleration between D and E is

a=\frac{5-0}{5}=1 m/s^2

22) This question is the same as 21), so the result is the same.
