D=-5m
a(gravity)=-9.8m/s^2
vi= 0m/s
t=?
use equation d=vi*t+0.5a*t^2
because vi=0, you can cross out vi*t because anything multiplied by 0= 0
rearrange the equation to say t^2=d/0.5a
t^2= -5/-4.9
t^2=1.02
find the square root...
final answer: t=1s

Derive an expression for the energy needed to launch an object from the surface of Earth to a height h above the surface.Ignorin
Sergio [31]

Answer:

Explanation:

Potential energy on the surface of the earth

= - GMm/ R

Potential at height h

=  - GMm/ (R+h)

Potential difference

= GMm/ R -  GMm/ (R+h)

= GMm ( 1/R - 1/ R+h )

= GMmh / R (R +h)

This will be the energy needed  to launch an object from the surface of Earth to a height h above the surface.

Extra  energy is needed to get the same object into orbit at height h

= Kinetic energy of the orbiting object at height h

= 1/2 x potential energy at height h

= 1/2 x GMm / ( R + h)

Is direction the length of the route between two points ?
zepelin [54]

Answer:

No distance is the length between two routes

Explanation:

Distance is the length of the route between two points. ... Direction is just as important as distance in describing motion. A vector is a quantity that has both size and direction. It can be used to represent the distance and direction of motion.

Express the volume expansivity and the isothermal compressibility as functions of density rho and its partial derivatives. For w
kap26 [50]

Answer:

Explanation:

κ = 1/v  x dv/dp

= 1/ρ x (+δρ/ δp )_T

δρ = 1 , ρ = 100

44.18 x 10⁻⁶ = ( 1/100) x( 1 / δp)

δp = 10⁻² / (44.18 x 10⁻⁶ )

= .0226 x 10⁴

= 226 bar

How is it possible for two objects to experience a collision that results in different accelerations?
den301095 [7]
Two colliding objects will exert equal forces upon each other. If the objects have different masses, then these equal forces will produce different accelerations.
