Answer:

a. Fx = -8.089 N b. Fy = 3.525 N c. 8.824 N d. 336.45°

Explanation:

Since F₁ = 9.2 N and acts at 57° above the negative axis in the second quadrant, its x-component is -F₁cos57° and its y- component is F₁sin57°

Since F₁ = 5.2 N and acts at 53.7° below the negative axis in the third quadrant, its x-component is -F₂cos53.7° and its y- component is -F₂sin53.7°

Part A

What is the x component Fx of the resultant force?

The x component of the resultant force Fx = -F₁cos57° + -F₂cos53.7° = -9.2cos57° + (-5.2cos53.7°) = (-5.011 - 3.078) N = -8.089 N

Part B

What is the y component Fy of the resultant force?

The y component Fy of the resultant force = F₁sin57° + -(F₂sin53.7°) = 9.2sin57° - 5.2sin53.7° = (7.716 - 4.191) N = 3.525 N

Part C

What is the magnitude F of the resultant force?

The magnitude F of the resultant force = √(Fx² + Fy²)

F = √(-8.089² N + 3.525² N) = √65.432 + 12.426 = √77.858 = 8.824 N

Part D

What is the angle ? that the resultant force forms with the negative x axis?

The angle the resultant force makes with the negative x axis is given by

θ = tan⁻¹(Fy/Fx) = tan⁻¹(3.525/-8.089) = tan⁻¹-0.4358 = -23.55°.

To measure it from the negative x axis, we add 360. So, our angle = 360 -23.55 = 336.45°

A torque acts on a wheel rotating at 19.8 rad/s and increases its angular speed to 23.5 rad/s in 11.2 s. Find the angle through
faltersainse [42]

243 rad is the angle through which the wheel turns during this time.

What is torque and angular speed?

Torque is a measure of the force that can cause an object to rotate about an axis.

Angular speed is define as the measuring angle of rotation over a given amount of time.

Mathematically , ω = θ t

From the given question ,

Torque = 19.8 rad/s

ω = 23.5 rad/s

t = 11.2 s

We get the equation,

\frac{ 19.8 +23.5}{2} * 11.2

= 243 rad

PLEASE HELPPP :))
why do ocean ridges rise above the surrounding ocean floor?
o-na [289]
At the ridge, new crust forms by igneous intrusion and extrusion. Since hot rocks are in a more expanded state and then contract as they cool (as they spread away from the ridge), the midocean ridges stand up high above the surrounding seafloor. The seafloor depth increases with distance away from the midocean ridges.

When a vertical beam of light passes through a transparent medium, the rate at which its intensity I decreases is proportional t
antoniya [11.8K]

Answer:

Intensity of beam 18 feet below the surface is about 0.02%

Explanation:

Using Lambert's law

Let dI / dt = kI, where k is a proportionality constant, I is intensity of incident light and t is thickness of the medium

then dI / I = kdt

taking log,

ln(I) = kt + ln C

I = Ce^kt

t=0=>I=I(0)=>C=I(0)

I = I(0)e^kt

t=3 & I=0.25I(0)=>0.25=e^3k

k = ln(0.25)/3

k = -1.386/3

k = -0.4621

I = I(0)e^(-0.4621t)

I(18) = I(0)e^(-0.4621*18)

I(18) = 0.00024413I(0)

Intensity of beam 18 feet below the surface is about 0.2%

A helicopter’s speed increases from 30 m/s to 40 m/s in 5 seconds.
TEA [102]
Acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity, which, simply put, is a mouthful to describe how fast something speeds up, slows down, or turns. The equation for acceleration is

a = Δv / Δt,

or your final velocity - your starting velocity, then divided by the amount of time. It can also be expressed as

a = (Vf - Vi) / t,

Where Vf is your final velocity, Vi is your initial velocity, and t is the time traveled.

The question gives us that the helicopter moves from a starting velocity of 30 m/s to a final velocity of 40 m/s in the span of 5 seconds. This means we can fill in the variables to the equation, where

Vf = 40,
Vi = 30, and
t = 5.

Plug these known variables into the original equation, and we get

a = (Vf - Vi) / t = (40 - 30) / 5.

From here, the answer comes down to 10 / 5, or 2 m/s^2.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask :D
