Suppose that the range of output frequencies is from 89.2 Hz to 13.9 kHz for a pipe organ. Take 343 m/s for the speed of sound.

(a) What is the length (in units of m) of the longest pipe open at both ends and producing sound at its fundamental frequency? (b) What is the length (in units of m) of the shortest pipe open at both ends and producing sound at its fundamental frequency?

Answer:

a) L = 1,923 m , b) L = 0.012 m

Explanation:

This is a resonance problem, if the tube is open at both ends it has a

a maximum in each one, the waves must fulfill the relationship

          λ = 2L / n

Where n is an integer and L the length of the tube

Let's use the ratio of the speed of sound

        v = λ f

        v = 2L f / n

        L = v/2f     n

The fundamental frequency corresponds to n = 1

        L = v / 2f

a) for the smallest frequency

f = 89.2 Hz

        L = 343 / (2 89.2)

        L = 1,923 m

b) for the highest frequency

f = 13.9 kHz = 13.9 10³ Hz

        L = 343 / (2 13.9 10³)

        L = 12.338 10⁻³ m

        L = 0.012 m

Virty [35]

Answer:

r= 2.03*10^7m

V = 1.45x10^3 m/s

Explanation:

number of days in sec = 1.02days * 86400s = 88128 s

Mass of Mars is 6.42*10^23 Kg

gravitational constant G = 6.674*10^{-11}

T^{2} = \frac {4pi^2}{GM} *r^3

\frac {88128^2}{(9.22*10^{-13})} = r^3

r= 2.03*10^7m

(b) V=\frac{2 \pi*r}{T}

V=\frac{(2 \pi(2.03*10^7))}{(88128)} = 1.45x10^3 m/s

A car traveling 77 km/h slows down at a constant 0.48 m/s2 just by "letting up on the gas." A) Calculate the distance the car co
vfiekz [6]

Answer:

(a) 477 m

(b) 44.6 s

(c) 21.16 m

(d) 19.24 m

Explanation:

initial speed, u = 77km/h = 21.4 m/s

acceleration, a = - 0.48 m/s2

final speed v =  0

(a) let the stopping distance is s.

Use third equation of motion

v^2 = u^2 + 2 a s\\\\0 = 21.4^2 - 2 \times 0.48\times s\\\\s = 477 m

(b) Let t is time.

Use first equation of motion

v = u + at

0 = 21.4 - 0.48 t

t = 44.6 s

(c) Let the distance is s in first second.

Use second equation of motion

s = u t + 0.5 at^2\\\\s = 21.4\times 1 - 0.5\times 0.48\times 1\\\\s = 21.4 - 0.24 = 21.16 m

(d) distance traveled in 5 th second is given by

s = u + 0.5 a (2 n - 1) \\\\s = 21.4 - 0.5\times 0.48 \times (2\times 5 -1)\\\\s= 21.4 - 2.16 = 19.24 m

Calculate the AMA of an access ramp if it takes 255 N of force to push a person in a wheelchair having a combined weight of 764
Andreyy89
Actual Mechanical Advantage(AMA) = Weight / Force
Here, Weight = 764 N
Force = 255 N

Substitute the values in to the expression,
AMA = 764 / 255
AMA = 2.99

After rounding-off to the nearest tenth value, it would be 3

Finally, option C would be your answer.

Hope this helps!
