The drawing shows a loudspeaker A and point C, where a listeer is positioned. A second loudspeaker B is located somewhere to the

right of A. Both speakers vibrate in phase and are playing a 62.8-Hz tone. The speed of sound is 349 m/s. What is the closest to speaker A that speaker B can be located, so that the listener hears no sound?

Answer: 4.17m

Explanation:

The observer at C will hear a sound on no sound upon whether the interference is constructive or destructive.

If the listeners hears sounds it is caled constructive interference but if he hears no sound its called destructive interference.

So

d2 - d1 = (n *lamba)/ 2

Where n=1,3,5

lamda=v/f =349/62.8

lamda=5.56m

d2= d1 + nlamda/2

d2= 1 + 5.56/2

d2= 3.78m

X'= 1 cos 60= 0.5m

Y= 1 sin60= 0.866m

X"^2 + Y^2 =d2^2

X" =√(y^2 - d2^2)

X"=√(3.78^2 - 0.886^2)

X"= 3.67m

So therefore the closest that speaker A can be to speaker B so the listener does not hear any sound is X' + X"= 0.5 + 3.67

4.17m

An object of known mass M with speed v0 travels toward a wall. The object collides with it and bounces away from the wall in the
Bingel [31]

Neither side of the equation may be used because there are too many unknown quantities before, during, and after the collision

Explanation:

The impulse theorem states that the change in momentum of an object is equal to the impulse, which is the product between the average force applied and the duration of the collision:

\Delta p = F \Delta t

where

\Delta p is the change in momentum

F is the average force

\Delta t is the duration of the collision

In this problem, neither side of the equation can be used to measure the change in momentum. In fact:

- The change in momentum (left side) is given by

\Delta p = m(v-u)

where

m is the mass of the object

u is the initial velocity

v is the final velocity

Here the final velocity is not known, so it's not possible to use this side of the equation

- The impulse (right side) is given by

F\Delta t

here the average force is known, however the duration of the collision is not known, so it's not possible to use this side of the equation.

Julie wants to know if adding calcium fertilizer to tomato plants will help prevent a disease of tomato plants called blossom-en
Ksivusya [100]
It's not true.

The crucial principle for a scientific experiment is to keep only ONE variable at a time.

In this case, the variable of this experiment is actually the tomato is in sunny part or in shady part, instead of whether applying Ca fertilizer.

In what type of change is matter not destroyed
Margaret [11]

There are two types of change in matter: physical change and chemical change. ... This is called the Law of Conservation of Matter. It states that matter can never be created or destroyed, only changed and rearranged.
