The amount of heat per second conducted from the blood capillaries beneath the skin to the surface is 240 J/s. The energy is tra

nsferred a distance of 2.0 x 10^-3 m through a body whose surface area is 1.6 m^2. Assuming that the thermal conductivity is that of body fat (k = 0.20 J/(s•m•degrees C)). Determine the temperature difference between the capillaries and the surface of the skin :
a. 9.2 degrees C

b. 5.4 degrees C

c. 1.5 degrees C

Answer:

c. 1.5 degrees C

Explanation:

Given that

Q= 240 J/s   ( we know that J.s=W)

Q= 240 W

L= 2 x 10⁻3 m

A= 1.6 m²

K=0.20 J/(s•m•degrees C))

Lets take temperature difference is ΔT

We know that from Fourier law

Q=KA\dfrac{\Delta T}{L}

Now by putting the all values

Q=KA\dfrac{\Delta T}{L}

240=0.2\times 1.6\times \dfrac{\Delta T}{2\times 10^{-3}}

ΔT = 1.5  degrees C

c. 1.5 degrees C

How would you locate an image formed by a convex lens?
lidiya [134]
Position of Image strictly depends on position of Object, so you get the light of ray from object then it strikes the surface of convex lens, which usually forms in front of the lens means the nature of Image is "Real" in most of the case of Convex lens

Hope this helps!

The force of friction acting on a sliding crate is 223 N.
lozanna [386]

Answer:

Friction Opposes Motion of an Object.

Now

To get the Net force that Moves an Object and causes acceleration....You subtract the Frictional force

Net force = Pushing Force - Frictional Force

Recall

Net Force; F=Ma

Ma = P - Fr

Now the question asked for How Much force Must be applied to Maintain a Constant velocity.

In a Constant Velocity Motion... Acceleration do not change... Its Zero

So Putting this into the formula above

M(0) = P - Fr

0=P - Fr

Fr = P.

This means

That The force needed to keep this object Moving at Constant Velocity Must be equal to its Frictional Force

Since Frictional Force; Fr =223N

The Applied Force(Pushing Force) Must be equal to 223N too.

Answer:

A 5.00-g bullet is fired horizontally into a 1.20-kg wooden block resting on a horizontal surface. The coefficient of kinetic friction between block and surface is 0.20. The bullet remains embedded in the block, which is observed to slide 0.230 m along the surface before stopping.
