The amount of heat per second conducted from the blood capillaries beneath the skin to the surface is 240 J/s. The energy is tra

nsferred a distance of 2.0 x 10^-3 m through a body whose surface area is 1.6 m^2. Assuming that the thermal conductivity is that of body fat (k = 0.20 J/(s•m•degrees C)). Determine the temperature difference between the capillaries and the surface of the skin :
a. 9.2 degrees C

b. 5.4 degrees C

c. 1.5 degrees C

d. 6.9 degrees C

e. 3.7 degrees C

Answer:

c. 1.5 degrees C

Explanation:

Given that

Q= 240 J/s   ( we know that J.s=W)

Q= 240 W

L= 2 x 10⁻3 m

A= 1.6 m²

K=0.20 J/(s•m•degrees C))

Lets take temperature difference is ΔT

We know that from Fourier law

Q=KA\dfrac{\Delta T}{L}

Now by putting the all values

Q=KA\dfrac{\Delta T}{L}

240=0.2\times 1.6\times \dfrac{\Delta T}{2\times 10^{-3}}

ΔT = 1.5  degrees C

c. 1.5 degrees C

Determine the MA based on the diagram below.
artcher [175]
There are two things that you should remember while dealing with the "Lever Mechanical Advantage" problems:

1) The Effort Arm;
2) The Resistance Arm.

Some books label the Effort Arm as in-lever arm and the Resistance Arm as out-lever arm. (Physics Jargon that you need to remember in order to solve problems)

The Effort Arm is that "part" of the lever where the force can be applied. The Resistance Arm is where some mass is placed. In the diagram, as you can see, the mass is placed on one arm of the lever. Therefore, it is the Resistance Arm.

Now the formula for the "Mechanical Advantage(MA)" is:
MA =  \frac{L_{e} }{ L_{r} }

Where L_{e} is the length of the Effort Arm(the subscript "e" stands for Effort), and L_{r} stands for the length of the Resistance Arm(here "r" stands for Resistance).

Plug in the values:

L_{e} = 15m.
L_{r} = 7m.

Therefore, L_{e} / L_{r} = 15/7 = 2.143 = MA

The correct answer is option C(2.14).

A boy jogs 250 meters in 110s what is the average speed
Artyom0805 [142]
The rule to get the average speed is as follows:
average speed = average distance / average time

We are given that:
distance = 250 m
time = 110 sec

Substitute with the givens in the above equation to get the average speed as follows:
average speed = 250/110 = 25/11 meters/sec

In 1869, Dmitri Mendeleev was trying to arrange the 65 known elements in a logical way. He arrived at the solution when he saw t
finlep [7]

Answer:

Creative thinking

Explanation:

As you can see in the question above, when Mandleev needed to organize the chemical elements in a logical, organized and efficient way, he thought until he came to the conclusion of organizing them according to the atomic weight of each one. This is a clear example of creative thinking, which is the term that refers to the act of solving a problem based on thought and reasoning.

Keisha finds instructions for a demonstration on gas laws. 1. Place a small marshmallow in a large plastic syringe. 2. Cap the s
yan [13]
The correct option is this: THIS IS THE DEMONSTRATION OF BOYLE'S LAW. AS THE VOLUME INCREASES, THE PRESSURE DECREASES AND THE MARSHMALLOW WILL GROW LARGER.
Boyle's law states that the volume of a gas is inversely proportional to the pressure of the gas at constant temperature. The law explains the relationship between the volume and pressure of a gas at constant temperature.
