Ganymede is one of the many moons of Jupiter. It is nearly spherical in shape. It is larger than the planet Mercury and slightly

smaller than the planet Mars. If it is so large compared with the bodies around it, why is it called a moon and not a planet? It is too far from the Sun. It is smaller than Jupiter. It moves in an orbit around Jupiter. It has no gravitational pull.

Satellite (moon) revolve around the planet
But planet revolve around the sun.
Ganymede is a satellite(moon) which revolve around the planet jupiter. So, it is considered as moon not planet.

2. A 3 kg ball is thrown downward at 4 m/s from a height of 1.5 m. a. What is the kinetic energy of the ball as it leaves the th
ludmilkaskok [199]

Answer:

a) 24 J

b) Gravitational Force

c) 45 J

d) 0

e) 6.782m/s

Explanation:

a) m = 3kg

v = 4m/s

h = 1.5m

KE = ?

0.5 * 3 * 16 = 24J

b) Gravitational force

c) F = ma = 3 * 10 = 30N

Work done = Force * distance = 30 * 1.5 = 45J

d) Final Kinetic Energy of the ball is zero because the ball eventually stops moving

e) velocity of ball as it strikes the ground = v

v^{2} - u^{2} = 2as where

v is the velocity as it strikes the ground

u is the initial velocity

a is acceleration

s is the distance

Now since the ball is thrown downwards, a is positive because the velocity of the ball is increasing as the gravitational force acts on it

u = 4m/s

a = 10

s = 1.5

=>  v = \sqrt{2as + u^{2} }

= \sqrt{(2*10*1.5) + 16}

= \sqrt{46} = 6.782m/s

A pickup truck is carrying a toolbox, but the rear gate of the truck is missing, so the box will slide out if it is set moving.
Anon25 [30]

Answer:

t=7.33 s

Explanation:

According to Newton's second law:

\sum F=m*a

because we don't want the box to slide, the acceleration has to be zero.

\sum F=-F_{friction}+F_{truck}=0\\F_{truck}=F_{friction}\\F_{friction}=\µ*m*g=0.500*9.81*m\\F_{friction}=4.91*m

we know that:

F=m*a\\4.91m=m*a\\a=4.91m/s^2

Now having the acceleration, we can use the following formula.

v_f=a*t\\t=\frac{36.0m/s}{4.91m/s^2}\\\\t=7.33s

In an experiment, a solid, uniform sphere is at rest on a horizontal surface. A net force is applied tangentially to the edge of
Thepotemich [5.8K]

Answer:

Option A and D

Radius of the sphere, and,

Average net force exerted on the sphere from 0 to 3s

Explanation:

The product of the average net force and the radius will give the torque

T = F x r

The product of torque and time will give the change in angular momentum

T x t = I2w2 - I1w1

Where F is the average force,

r is the radius,

T is the torque,

t is the time (0 to 3sec)

I = moment of inertia of the system

w is the angular speed.
