"the fuel in a nuclear power station is Uranium 235"

Explanation:

 • Nuclear fuel is one of the sources of energy. Nuclear fission is the method used to create nuclear energy.
 • Nuclear fission is defined as the breaking down of the helium atoms to hydrogen which produces large amounts of energy.
 • There is one method of preparing nuclear energy which is nuclear fusion. It is the fusion of four hydrogen atoms to form one helium atom. It happens only in the Sun. It produces a larger amount of energy than fission
 • The fuel used in a nuclear power station is Uranium 235 and plutonium 239 and these are the radioactive metals.

A. Besides protons, what other particles make up an atom? Write 2 - 3 sentences describing how the electrostatic force acts betw
vodomira [7]

Answer:

For a. Neutrons and electrons also form an atom.

For b. The element is oxygen which is a non-metal and will form a negative ion while forming ionic bond.

Explanation:

 • For a:

There are 3 subatomic particles which form an atom. These are neutrons, protons and electrons.

Neutrons carry no charge, protons carry positive charge and electrons carry negative charge. Neutrons and protons are present in nucleus and electrons revolve around the nucleus.

The energy which is present between neutrons and protons are nuclear energy and the energy which is present between electrons and protons are electrostatic energy.

 • For b:

In an element, number of protons is always equal to the number of electrons. The atomic number is equal to the number of protons or electrons. The element which has atomic number 8 is Oxygen.

The electronic configuration of this element is 1s^22s^22p^4

This element requires only 2 electrons to form a stable electronic configuration. An element which gains electron is considered as a non-metal and forms a negative ion because number of electrons increases.

Help me this question to solve
const2013 [10]

Answer:

1. 31 Ω

2. 42 Ω

3. V = IR

4. 4 A

5. 1.37 A

Explanation:

Sorry if I make any mistakes reading your handwriting. If I do, let me know and I'll fix it.

1. "Resistors of 5Ω, 10Ω, and 16Ω are connected in series. Find the total resistance."

The resistance of resistors in series is the sum:

R = R₁ + R₂ + R₃

R = 5Ω + 10Ω + 16Ω

R = 31Ω

2. "The total resistance of two resistors connected in series is 75Ω. The value of one resistor is 33Ω. What is the value of the other one?"

Since they are in series, the total resistance is the sum:

75Ω = 33Ω + R

R = 42Ω

3. "State Ohm's law."

Ohm's law states that a voltage drop across a resistor is equal to the resistance times the current.

V = IR

4. To find the current, we first find the total resistance, then use Ohm's law.

R = 10Ω + 15Ω + 30Ω

R = 55Ω

V = IR

220 V = I × 55Ω

I = 4 A

5. Same steps as before.

R = 1.5Ω + 4Ω + 12Ω

R = 17.5Ω

V = IR

24 V = I × 17.5Ω

I = 1.37 A
