Answer: x=+/- square root of y+5 (A, i think this one kinda confused me)

y=x^2-5
substitute y for 0
0=x^2-5
subtract x^2 on both sides
-x^2=-5
since they both can be negative and positive change signs to positive to be easier
x^2=5
square root both sides
x=+/- square root of 5

Jeff and his friends win a prize.
Anit [1.1K]

Answer:

Prize, P = $352

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Let Jeff's share be J.
  • Let the value of the prize be P.

<u>Given the following data;</u>

  • J = $160
  • J = 5P/11

To find the value of the prize;

\frac {5}{11} * P = 160

\frac {5P}{11} = 160

Cross-multiplying, we have;

5P = 160 * 11

5P = 1760

P = \frac {1760}{5}

<em>Prize, P = $352</em>

The length of time a person takes to decide which shoes to purchase is normally distributed with a mean of 8.21 minutes and a st
madam [21]

Answer:

4.55% probability that a randomly selected individual will take less than 5 minutes to select a shoe purchase.

Since Z > -2 and Z < 2, this outcome is not considered unusual.

Step-by-step explanation:

Problems of normally distributed samples are solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

If Z \leq 2 or Z \geq 2, the outcome X is considered to be unusual.

In this question:

\mu = 8.21, \sigma = 1.9

Find the probability that a randomly selected individual will take less than 5 minutes to select a shoe purchase.

This is the pvalue of Z when X = 5. So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

Z = \frac{5 - 8.21}{1.9}

Z = -1.69

Z = -1.69 has a pvalue of 0.0455.

4.55% probability that a randomly selected individual will take less than 5 minutes to select a shoe purchase.

Since Z > -2 and Z < 2, this outcome is not considered unusual.

Rewrite each equation in slope intersept form to 4x -y=7
Bad White [126]

Answer:

y = 4x-7

Step-by-step explanation:

Slope intercept form is

y = mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept

4x-y = 7

Subtract 4x from each side

-y = -4x+7

Multiply each side by -1

y = 4x-7
