4. See page 658. Other plastics harden permanently when molded. Because they are set permanently in the shape they first form, there are called thermosetting polymers. No matter how much they are reheated, they wont soften enough to get remolded.

So the answer is "A - Thermosetting Polymer"

What does a base release when it is placed in water?
Alexxx [7]

Answer:

D - Hydroxide Ion (OH-)

Explanation:

A base provides either hydroxide ions (OH–) or other negatively charged ions that combine with hydrogen ions, reducing their concentration in the solution and thereby raising the pH. In cases where the base releases hydroxide ions, these ions bind to free hydrogen ions, generating new water molecules.

What happens to the mass when a substance changes states
Norma-Jean [14]

If the the level of water in a container is compared before and after the fusion, it can be realized that the ice has a higher level than that of liquid water: solid and liquid water does not have the same volume.
We can generalize:
A state change always causes a change in volume.
Comment:
Water is an exception, volume increases during a melting for most of substances.

Which of the graphs below might represent a mixture of pure water and ice exposed to a room temperature of 3°C?
Y_Kistochka [10]

Answer:

C. Graph C

Explanation:

We have a mixture of water and ice.

At 0 °C they are at equilibrium.

water-to-ice rate = ice-to-water rate

Next, we lower the temperature to -3 °C — just slightly below freezing.

The water will slowly turn to ice.

The water-to-ice rate will be slightly faster than the ice-to-water rate.

The purple bar will be slightly higher than the blue bar.

Graph C best represents the relative rates

A. is wrong. The ice-to-water rate is faster, so the water is melting. The temperature is slightly above freezing (say, 3 °C).

B. is wrong. The two rates are equal, so the temperature is 0 °C.

D. is wrong. The water-to-ice rate (freezing) is much greater than the ice-to-water rate, so the temperature is well below freezing( say, -10 °C).

A sample of o2 gas (2.0 mmol) effused through a pinhole in 5.0 s. it will take __________ s for the same amount of co2 to effuse
s344n2d4d5 [400]
Answer is: 5,9.
Effusion is leakage of gas through a small hole. Gases with a lower molecular mass effuse more speedy than gases with a higher molecular mass. Relative rates of effusion is related to the molecular mass.
M(O₂) = 32g/mol.
M(CO₂) = 44g/mol.
t₁ = 5s.
t₂ = ?
t₂/t₁ = √(M(CO₂)/M(O₂)).
t₂ = 1,17·5s = 5,9s.

Give example of a compound
MrMuchimi

Answer:

The seven crystal systems are a method of classifying crystals according to their atomic lattice or structure. The atomic lattice is a three dimensional network of atoms that are arranged in a symmetrical pattern. The shape of the lattice determines not only which crystal system the stone belongs to, but all of its physical properties and appearance. In some crystal healing practices the axial symmetry of a crystal is believed to directly influence its metaphysical properties. For example crystals in the Cubic System are believed to be grounding, because the cube is a symbol of the element Earth.
