A 500,000 kg cargo ship is traveling at 75 km/h when its engine is shut off. The magnitude of the frictional force between boat

and water is proportional to the speed v of the boat: f k = 85v, where v is in meters per second and f k is in newtons. Find the time in hours for the ship to slow to one-third of its original speed because of the friction with the water.

Answer:1.8 hr

Explanation:

Given

mass of cargo=500,000 kg

initial speed=75 km/h\approx 20.833 m/s

Frictional force=85 v

at t=0 engine is shut off so acquired speed is slowly decreasing

85v=-500,000\frac{\mathrm{d} v}{\mathrm{d} t}

85dt=-\frac{dv}{v}

Integrating both sides

85\int_{0}^{t}dt=-500,000\int_{20.83}^{6.944}\frac{dv}{v}

85t=500,000\ln \frac{1}{3}

t=6462.425 s

t=1.8 hr

Two forces act on a 6.00-kg object. One of the forces is 10.0 N. If the object accelerates at 2.00 m/s2
liubo4ka [24]

Given :

Two forces act on a 6.00-kg object. One of the forces is 10.0 N.

Acceleration of object 2 m/s².

To Find :

The greatest possible magnitude of the other force.\

Solution :

Let, other force is f.

So, net force, F = 10 + f.

Now, acceleration is given by :

a=\dfrac{F}{mass}\\\\a= \dfrac{10+f}{6}\\\\\dfrac{10+f}{6}=2\\\\f = 12 - 10\\\\f = 2 \ N

Therefore, the greatest possible magnitude of the other force is 2 N.

Hence, this is the required solution.

If a net force of 800n is acting on an object with a mass of 60kg. What would be the objects accelerations
aivan3 [116]

Answer: 13.33 m/s^2

Explanation:

Force is the product of mass of an object and its acceleration.

i.e Force = Mass x Acceleration

Since Force on object = 800N

Mass of object = 6Kg

Acceleration = ?

Then, Force = Mass x Acceleration

800N = 60Kg x Acceleration

Acceleration = (800N/60kg)

Acceleration = 13.33 m/s^2 (The unit of acceleration is metre per second square)

Thus, the objects accelerations is 13.33 m/s^2

What is the role of the brain in helping an animal interact with its environment?
Masteriza [31]

Answer:

The nature of the environment and the animal's interaction with it determines much of the character of the brain.

Explanation:

In fact, most of what we would use to describe ourselves to others reflects this sort of information storage.   Much of this information is unique to the individual and hence may involve different mechanisms from those used for species-typical information storage.
