The Cognitive perspective focuses on measuring the amount of intelligence a person has by using intelligence tests.

<u>Explanation:</u>

  • The cognitive perspective is concerned with “mental” functions such as memory, perception, personality development. It views like the people are processing information similar to computers.
  • For example, both human brains and computers process information, store data and have input and output procedures. It is the mental act or process by which knowledge is acquired.
  • Cognitive theory is focused on the individual's thoughts mainly consisting of his or her emotions and behaviors and therefore personality. Making a judgment about something based on the information you received that your brain processes are another way of being mentally present and stable.

What is the specific heat of the masses in this experiment? Infer the substance the masses are made of and explain your inferenc
Liono4ka [1.6K]

The metal whose specific heat capacity is close to the obtained value is aluminum.

<h3>What is specific heat capacity</h3>

The specific heat capacity of an object is the heat required to raise a unit mass of the substance by 1 kelvin.

Q= mc\Delta \theta

where;

  • c is the specific heat capacity
  • Δθ is change in temperature

Let the mass of the water = 50 g

mass of the metal for this first trial = 50 g

The heat gained by the water is calculated as follows

Q = 50 \times 4.184 \times 8.4\\\\Q = 1757.28 \ J

Specific heat capacity of the metal for the first trial is calculated as follows;

Heat gained by water = Heat lost by metal

C = \frac{Q}{m\Delta T} = \frac{1757.28}{50\times 8.4} = 4.184 \ J/g^oC

Specific heat capacity of the metal for the second trial;

mass of metal = 200 - mass of water = 150 g

C_2 = \frac{1757.28}{150 \times 15.2} = 0.77 \ J/g^oC

Specific heat capacity of the metal for the third trial;

C_3 = \frac{1757.28}{250 \times 20.8} = 0.34\ J/g^oC

Specific heat capacity of the metal for the fourth trial;

C_4 = \frac{1757.28}{350 \times 25.4} = 0.19\ J/g^oC

Specific heat capacity of the metal for the fifth trial;

C_5 = \frac{1757.28}{450 \times 29.6} = 0.13\ J/g^oC

Average specific heat capacity

C = \frac{4.184 + 0.77 + 0.34+ 0.19 + 0.13 }{5} = 1.12 \ J/g^oC = 1120 J/kg^oC

The metal whose specific heat capacity is close to the above value is aluminum.

Which of the following statements about this experiment is FALSE? Before each trial one should reshape the bob into something li
Troyanec [42]

Which of the following statements about this experiment is FALSE? Before each trial one should reshape the bob into something like a ball. You may assume the collision between the bob and the box is completely inelastic. The initial position for the box should be just touching the pendulum bob when it is hanging straight down. To make the box move, the pendulum bob should hit close to the bottom of the box during the collision is given below

Explanation:

So, The bob is held at angle theta from initial position, P. Find the displacement from P.

displacement= L sin  Θ. I hope you get it here. The pendulum forms a triangle with length L, the initial position and horizontal displacement.

So,the point is at displacement point the kinetic energy of bob is 0 and when it is released it will have maximum kinetic energy at P. It will hit the box and all he kinetic energy of bob will get transferred into driving force(F.D) of box. Now kinetic energy = Force * displacement.

K.E= 0.5 m V^2= F.D * Lsin Θ.

Find F.D

F.D = (0.5 m V^2) /  Lsin Θ.

Now for the box, F.D - Friction = m(box) a.

Friction = F.D + m(box) a.

Find the accelaration of box from an equation of motion. ( u=0, find displacement of box,s,time taken and so on)

U get the friction. Now,

coeff of friction = µ = friction/ reaction.

Note that reaction here = weight of box= m(box) g.   g= acc of free fall= 9.81.

So here u go.. U get the coeff of friction.. I hope am right here.. and made no mistake.. Anyway try it with the values to confirm! ;)

What is the net force on a car if the force of friction is 15 N and the forward force due to the engine is 20 N?
ICE Princess25 [194]
5 newton forward because the force of the engine is greater than the force of friction so that means the car is going forward.
You can think of this: when friction is greater than the force of an object its slowing down but when the force of the car is greater than the force of friction its speeding up.
Hope this helps
