A lapse corresponds to an unintentional error. This term may refer to an attention deficit, a memory failure, processing failure, among others. This type of error occurs involuntarily and can happen even in computerized systems and results of some analysis.
In order to streamline the work and ensure the safety and relevance of the results, the World Health Organization's Surgical Safety Checklist is equipped with a technological and accurate system to identify these failures resulting from a lapse and to optimize information contained on the list.
