If the Earth stopped spinning suddenly, the atmosphere would still be in motion with the Earth's original 1100 mile per hour rotation speed at the equator. All of the land masses would be scoured clean of anything not attached to bedrock. Hope that helped

What is the volume of 40.0 grams of argon gas at STP ?
MrRa [10]

Answer:

24.9 L Ar

General Formulas and Concepts:

<u>Atomic Structure</u>

  • Reading a Periodic Table
  • Moles
  • STP (Standard Conditions for Temperature and Pressure) = 22.4 L per mole at 1 atm, 273 K

<u>Aqueous Solutions</u>

  • States of Matter

<u>Stoichiometry</u>

  • Using Dimensional Analysis

Explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define</u>

[Given] 40.0 g Ar

[Solve] L Ar

<u>Step 2: Identify Conversions</u>

[PT] Molar Mass of Ar - 39.95 g/mol

[STP] 22.4 L = 1 mol

<u>Step 3: Convert</u>

  1. [DA] Set up:                                                                                                       \displaystyle 40.0 \ g \ Ar(\frac{1 \ mol \ Ar}{39.95 \ g \ Ar})(\frac{22.4 \ L \ Ar}{1 \ mol \ Ar})
  2. [DA] Divide/Multiply [Cancel out units]:                                                         \displaystyle 24.9235 \ L \ Ar

<u>Step 4: Check</u>

<em>Follow sig fig rules and round. We are given 3 sig figs.</em>

24.9235 L Ar ≈ 24.9 L Ar

Sulfur and oxygen form both sulfur dioxide and sulfur trioxide. When samples of these were decomposed the sulfur dioxide produce
Zinaida [17]

Answer : The mass of oxygen per gram of sulfur for sulfur dioxide and sulfur trioxide is, 0.997 g and 1.5 g respectively.

Explanation : Given,

Mass of oxygen in sulfur dioxide = 3.49 g

Mass of sulfur in sulfur dioxide = 3.50 g

Mass of oxygen in sulfur trioxide = 9.00 g

Mass of sulfur in sulfur trioxide = 6.00 g

Now we have to calculate the mass of oxygen per gram of sulfur for sulfur dioxide and sulfur trioxide.

Mass of oxygen per gram of sulfur for sulfur dioxide = \frac{\text{Mass of oxygen}}{\text{Mass of sulfur}}

Mass of oxygen per gram of sulfur for sulfur dioxide = \frac{3.49}{3.50}=0.997g

and,

Mass of oxygen per gram of sulfur for sulfur trioxide = \frac{\text{Mass of oxygen}}{\text{Mass of sulfur}}

Mass of oxygen per gram of sulfur for sulfur trioxide = \frac{9.00}{6.00}=1.5g

Thus, the mass of oxygen per gram of sulfur for sulfur dioxide and sulfur trioxide is, 0.997 g and 1.5 g respectively.

What was Newtons first law of motion??
Ksivusya [100]

Answer:

Basically an object in motion or at rest will remain that way unless an outside force acts against it.

Explanation:

Newton's first law states that every object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force. This is normally taken as the definition of inertia.
