A 0.26-kg rock is thrown vertically upward from the top of a cliff that is 31 m high. When it hits the ground at the base of the

cliff, the rock has a speed of 30 m/s.
a. Assuming that air resistance can be ignored, what is the initial speed of the rock?
b. What is the greatest height of the rock as measured from the base of the cliff?

Answer:

a)  v₀ = 39.83 v / s , b)   y = 111.94 m

Explanation:

a) Let's use the kinematic relations for this problem

                v² = v₀² - 2 g y

The speed at the base of the cliff is 30 m / s, the height y = 31 m

               v₀² = v² + 2 g y

                v₀ =√ (30² + 2 9.8 31)

                v₀ = 39.83 v / s

b) at the point of maximum height the speed is zero

                     0 = v₀² - 2 g (y –y0)

                     y = y₀ + v₀² / 2g

                     .y = 31 + 39.83²/2 9.8

                      y = 111.94 m

A 2750 kg helicopter flies horizontally at constant speed. Air resistance creates a 7510 n backward force. What is the magnitude
svp [43]

Answer:

Explanation:

Let lift force F be created by propellers at angle of Ф with the horizontal .

The vertical component of this force will balance the weight of helicopter and horizontal component will balance the air resistance .

F sinФ = mg = 2750 x 9.8 = 26950 N

F cosФ = 7510 N

Squaring and adding ,

F² = 26950² + 7510²

= 726302500 + 56400100

= 782702600

F = 27976.82 N .

A Carnot engine operates between temperature levels of 600 K and 300 K. It drives a Carnot refrigerator, which provides cooling
KATRIN_1 [288]

Explanation:

Formula for maximum efficiency of a Carnot refrigerator is as follows.

      \frac{W}{Q_{H_{1}}} = \frac{T_{H_{1}} - T_{C_{1}}}{T_{H_{1}}} ..... (1)

And, formula for maximum efficiency of Carnot refrigerator is as follows.

     \frac{W}{Q_{C_{2}}} = \frac{T_{H_{2}} - T_{C_{2}}}{T_{C_{2}}} ...... (2)

Now, equating both equations (1) and (2) as follows.

 Q_{C_{2}} \frac{T_{H_{2}} - T_{C_{2}}}{T_{C_{2}}} = Q_{H_{1}} \frac{T_{H_{1}} - T_{C_{1}}}{T_{H_{1}}}

        \gamma = \frac{Q_{C_{2}}}{Q_{H_{1}}}

                    = \frac{T_{C_{2}}}{T_{H_{1}}} (\frac{T_{H_{1}} - T_{C_{1}}}{T_{H_{2}} - T_{C_{2}}})

                    = \frac{250}{600} (\frac{(600 - 300)K}{300 K - 250 K})

                    = 2.5

Thus, we can conclude that the ratio of heat extracted by the refrigerator ("cooling load") to the heat delivered to the engine ("heating load") is 2.5.

Select answer about motion and newtons law and explain why it's correct 23POINTS NEED ASAP
zlopas [31]

The train would need the greatest amount of force due to weight! If you think of it, a baseball won't need much force to stop it, but if you have a heavy train, it will need excessive force to stop the train. The answer would be #3

I hope this answer helps!

Sorry if it doesn't make sense, as I don't know that much about physics! I am just thinking of what makes sense.
