Remember you can do ANTYTHING to an equaton as long as you do it to both sides

remember distributive property
a(b-c)=ab-ac

so
first distribute the 8 to theh (q-11)
8(q-11)=8q-88

now we have
20+8q-88=-12
8q-68=-12
add 68 to both sides
8q+68-68=68-12
8q+0=56
8q=56
divide both sides by 8
8q/8=56/8
1q=7
q=7

You distribute the 8 into q and -11 and you get 20+ 8q-88= -12. Now combine like terms -88 +20 or 88-20 and you get 8q - 68 = -12. Add 68 to both sides of the equal sign. You get 8q =56. Divide 8q by 8 and 56 by 8 to get q by itself. Finally your answer is q=7

The outside of a rectangular picture frame measures 10 in. by 11 in. and has a 1-in. border. What is the area of the border?
Rina8888 [55]

Answer:

156in²

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of the border = Length * Breadth

If the outside measures 10in by 11in with 1-in border, the length of the picture with border = 10+(1+1) * 11+(1+1)

Area of the border = 12*13

Area of the border = 156in²

Note that the border length will be added at both edges of the frames for each length and the width of the frame

Find the value of x in the triangle shown below 2 10
OlgaM077 [116]

Answer:

the answer is A

Step-by-step explanation:

the Pythagorean theorem is a squared + b squared = c squared (c always being the hypotenuse and a and b being the legs. 2 (4) squared pus 10 (100) squared=104 then you would use the square root of 104. 104 does not have a whole number square so the answer is \sqrt{104\\

Solve the system of linear equations below:
2x + 5y = 34
x + 2y = 14
7nadin3 [17]
X + 2y = 14
-2y

x = -2y + 14

substitute x into the first equation

2 (-2y + 14) + 5y = 34
-4y + 28 + 5y = 34

simplify your y variable

y + 28 = 34

subtract 28 to find out what y equals

y = 6

now substitute y into the equation to find out what x equals

x + 2(6) = 14
x + 12 = 14

subtract 12 to get x

x = 2

now replace your values into an ordered pair, which is the solution

Which steps could be used to solve this story problem? Jordan was harvesting his garden vegetables. He put them in boxes after h
TEA [102]
A, because there was originally 94 red peppers but 21 of those were shriveled so you subtract 21 from 94=73, then it asks how many peppers are there all together so you add both red and green peppers together which is 73+48=121.
