Answer:

Given:

laminar flow

and since velocity of flow is doubled, we consider v_{n} as new velocity and v_{o}<u> as original velocity</u>

Explanation:

As per laminar flow, thickness, t is given by

t = \frac{4.91x}{\sqrt( R_{ex}) }

t =  \frac{4.91x}{\sqrt{\frac{\rho vx}{\mu }}}

t = \frac{4.91x\mu }{\sqrt{\rho vx}}

where,

R_{ex} = Reynold's no.

therefore,

t ∝ \frac{1}{\sqrt{v} }

Now,

\frac{t_{n} }{t_{o} } = \sqrt{(\frac{v_{o} }{v_{n} })}

\frac{t_{n} }{t_{o} } = \sqrt{(\frac{v_{o} }{2v_{o} } )} =\frac{1}{\sqrt{2} }

therefore,

t_{n}:t_{o} = 1:\sqrt{2}

Vika [28.1K]

This question is incomplete, the complete question is;

An air-standard Diesel cycle engine operates as follows: The temperatures at the beginning and end of the compression stroke are 30 °C and 700 °C, respectively. The net work per cycle is 590.1 kJ/kg, and the heat transfer input per cycle is 925 kJ/kg. Determine the a) compression ratio, b) maximum temperature of the cycle, and c) the cutoff ratio, v3/v2.

Use the cold air standard assumptions.

Answer:

a) The compression ratio is 18.48

b) The maximum temperature of the cycle is 1893.4 K

c) The cutoff ratio, v₃/v₂ is 1.946

Explanation:

Given the data in the question;

Temperature at the start of a compression T₁ = 30°C = (30 + 273) = 303 K

Temperature at the end of a compression T₂ = 700°C = (700 + 273) = 973 K

Net work per cycle W_{net = 590.1 kJ/kg

Heat transfer input per cycle Qs = 925 kJ/kg

a) compression ratio;

As illustrated in the diagram below, 1 - 2 is adiabatic compression;

so,

Tγ^{Y-1 = constant { For Air, γ = 1.4 }

hence;

⇒ V₁ / V₂ = ( T₂ / T₁ )^{\frac{1}{Y-1}

so we substitute

⇒ V₁ / V₂ = (  973 K / 303 K  )^{\frac{1}{1.4-1}

= (  3.21122  )^{\frac{1}{0.4}

= 18.4788 ≈ 18.48

Therefore, The compression ratio is 18.48

b) maximum temperature of the cycle

We know that for Air, Cp = 1.005 kJ/kgK

Now,

Heat transfer input per cycle Qs = Cp( T₃ - T₂ )

we substitute

925 = 1.005( T₃ - 700 )

( T₃ - 700 ) = 925 / 1.005

( T₃ - 700 ) = 920.398

T₃ = 920.398 + 700

T₃ = 1620.398 °C

T₃ = ( 1620.398 + 273 ) K

T₃ = 1893.396 K ≈ 1893.4 K

Therefore, The maximum temperature of the cycle is 1893.4 K

c)  the cutoff ratio, v₃/v₂;

Since pressure is constant, V ∝ T

So,

cutoff ratio S = v₃ / v₂  = T₃ / T₂

we substitute

cutoff ratio S = 1893.396 K / 973 K

cutoff ratio S = 1.9459 ≈ 1.946

Therefore, the cutoff ratio, v₃/v₂ is 1.946

How to build a robot
Anuta_ua [19.1K]
Seriously? Ok

first, get some good quality metal, preferably aluminum, if you want to avoid rust.

build in the the shape of a robot, you can use a doll to help you if you are a beginner, but feel free to shape it the a Star Wars Character!

create an AI (now you said robot not AI) and fix everything up.

Write the heat equation for each of the following cases:
jok3333 [9.3K]

Answer:

Explanation:

a) the steady-state, 1-D incompressible and no energy generation equation can be expressed as follows:

\dfrac{\partial^2T}{\partial x^2}=  \ 0  \  ;  \ if \  T = f(x)  \\ \\ \dfrac{\partial^2T}{\partial y^2}=  \ 0  \  ;  \ if \  T = f(y)  \\ \\ \dfrac{\partial^2T}{\partial z^2}=  \ 0  \  ;  \ if \  T = f(z)

b) For a transient, 1-D, constant with energy generation

suppose T = f(x)

Then; the equation can be expressed as:

\dfrac{\partial^2T}{\partial x^2} + \dfrac{Q_g}{k} = \dfrac{1}{\alpha} \dfrac{dT}{dC}

where;

Q_g = heat generated per unit volume

\alpha = Thermal diffusivity

c) The heat equation for a cylinder steady-state with 2-D constant and no compressible energy generation is:

\dfrac{1}{r}\times \dfrac{\partial}{\partial r }( r* \dfrac{\partial \ T }{\partial \ r}) + \dfrac{\partial^2 T}{\partial z^2 }= 0

where;

The radial directional term = \dfrac{1}{r}\times \dfrac{\partial}{\partial r }( r* \dfrac{\partial \ T }{\partial \ r}) and the axial directional term is \dfrac{\partial^2 T}{\partial z^2 }

d) The heat equation for a wire going through a furnace is:

\dfrac{\partial ^2 T}{\partial z^2} = \dfrac{1}{\alpha}\Big [\dfrac{\partial ^2 T}{\partial ^2 t}+ V_z \dfrac{\partial ^2T}{\partial ^2z} \Big ]

since;

the steady-state is zero, Then:

\dfrac{\partial ^2 T}{\partial z^2} = \dfrac{1}{\alpha}\Big [ V_z \dfrac{\partial ^2T}{\partial ^2z} \Big ]'

e) The heat equation for a sphere that is transient, 1-D, and incompressible with energy generation is:

\dfrac{1}{r} \times \dfrac{\partial}{\partial r} \Big ( r^2 \times \dfrac{\partial T}{\partial r} \Big ) + \dfrac{Q_q}{K} = \dfrac{1}{\alpha}\times \dfrac{\partial T}{\partial t}
