At room temperature, sound travels at a speed of about 344 m/s in air. You see a distant flash of lightning and hear the thunder
bearhunter [10]

Answer:

The lighten travels 0.853 miles.

Explanation:

Sound: Sound is a form of wave which is conveyed through an elastic medium from a vibrating body to a listener.

v = 2x/t .......................................... Equation 1

making x the subject of the equation

x = vt/2........................................ Equation 2

Where v = velocity of sound in air, x = distance traveled by the sound, t = time

Given: v = 344 m/s t = 8 s

Substituting into equation 2

x = 344(8)/2

x = 1376 m.

x = 1376×0.00062 miles = 0.853 miles

Thus the lighten travels 0.853 miles.

Given the following specific heat capacities, which material was have the largest change in temperature if 10 grams of each subs
Ilya [14]

Answer:

Explanation:

Comment

You could calculate it out by assuming the same starting temperature for each substance. (You have to assume that the substances do start at the same temperature anyway).

That's like shooting 12 with 2 dice. It can be done, but aiming for a more common number is a better idea.

Same with this question.

You should just develop a rule. The rule will look like this

The greater the heat capacity the (higher or lower) the change in temperature.

The greater the heat capacity the lower the change in temperature

That's not your question. You want to know which substance will have the greatest temperature change given their heat capacities.

Answer

lead. It has the smallest heat capacity and therefore it's temperature change will be the greatest.

A cart is moving to the right with a constant speed of 20 m s . A box of mass 80 kg moves with the cart without slipping. The co
nignag [31]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

mass of box m=80 kg

coefficient of kinetic friction \mu _k=0.15

coefficient of Static friction \mu _s=0.30

cart is moving with constant velocity therefore Net Force is zero

Since there is no net acceleration therefore friction force will be zero

mathematically

f_r=ma

where f_r=frictional\ Force

a=acceleration

a=0

f_r=0

A car is moving at a constant speed of 14 m/s when the driver presses down on the gas pedal and accelerates for 14 s with an acc
Vinil7 [7]

acceleration of car is 1.8 m/s^2

time = 14 s

initial speed = 14 m/s

so the final speed is calculated by

v_f = v_i + at

v_f = 14 + 14 * 1.8

v_f = 39.2 m/s

so the total distance moved in this interval of time is

d = \frac{v_f + v_i}{2}* t

d = \frac{39.2 + 14}{2}* 14

d = 372.4 m

now the average speed is given as

v = \frac{d}{t}

v = \frac{372.4}{14}

v = 26.6 m/s

so the average speed will be 26.6 m/s
