Answer:

The final temperature of the system is 27.3°C.

Explanation:

Heat lost by aluminum = 3.99 × 0.91 × (100-T)

                                     = 3.631 (100-T)

Heat gained by water = 10 × 4.184 × (T-21)

                                    = 41.84 (T-21)

As,

                                Heat gained = Heat loss

                          or, 3.631(100-T) = 41.84(T-21)

                          or,363.1 -  3.631 T = 41.84 T - 878.64)

                          or, (41.84+ 3.631) T = 878.64 +363.1

                          or  T= \frac{1241.74}{45.47}

                         or, T = 27.3°C

Hence the final temperature is 27.3°C.

1.42 mol sample of neon gas at a temperature of 13.0 °C is found to occupy a volume of 25.5 liters. The pressure of this gas sam
Dima020 [189]

Answer: 996 mmHg

Explanation:

According to avogadro's law, 1 mole of every substance occupies 22.4 L at NTP, weighs equal to the molecular mass and contains avogadro's number 6.023\times 10^{23} of particles.

According to the ideal gas equation:

PV=nRT

P = Pressure of the gas = ?

V= Volume of the gas = 25.5 L

T= Temperature of the gas = 13°C = (273+13) K  = 286K

R= Gas constant = 0.0821 atmL/K mol

n=  moles of gas= 1.42

P=\frac{nRT}{V}=\frac{1.42\times 0.0821\times 286}{25.5}=1.31atm=996mmHg      (760mmHg=1atm)

Thus pressure of this gas sample is 996 mm Hg.

Determine which molecules are weak acids and weak bases, and place them in the appropriate category.
Dmitry [639]

Answer:

  • CH_{3} COOH is a weak acid with a strong conjugate base (CH_{3} CO_{2} ^{-} )
  • CH_{3} NH_{2} is a weak base with a strong conjugate acid (CHx_{3} NH_{2} ^{-} )

Explanation:

Weak acids do not completely dissociate in water to its distinctive ions, but instead forms conjugate bases; and ice versa with weak bases. The conjugate base has strong affinity for protons and vice versa.

I hope you found this explanation clear and easy to follow.
