Explanation:

Kevlar is a fiber which is used in making of bullet proof vests and armors. It is a co-polymer which is formed by condensing two organic molecules 1,4-phenylene-diamine and terephthaloyl chloride.

NH_2C_6H_4NH_2+Cl-(CO)-C_6H_4-(CO)-Cl\xrightarrow[-2HCl]{ }

                      NH_2-C_6H_4-NH-CO-C_6H_4-COOH

For Structure refer to image attached.

The condensed formula for Kevlar is attached in the image.

Further explanation:

Polymerization is a process through which monomer molecules undergo addition or condensation reaction to form a three-dimensional network structure called polymers. They are also called as macromolecules.

Monomers are defined as low molecular weight compounds that undergo reaction to form high molecular weight compounds called polymers.

Types of polymerization:

Addition polymerization is also known as chain-growth polymerization. It mainly occurs by the reaction in which a carbon-carbon double bond adds to a carbon-carbon double bond. There is no loss of small molecules in it.

Condensation reaction is a reaction where a larger molecule is formed by a reaction between two reactants by loss of small neutral molecules like {{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}{\text{O}},{\text{N}}{{\text{H}}_3},{\text{HCl}}.

Kevlar is copolymer formed by condensation reaction between 1,4-phenylene-diamine and terephthaloyl chloride by loss of HCl molecule. It is heat resistant and strong synthetic fiber which is used in the making of bulletproof vests and armors.

The copolymerization of Kevlar occurs as follows:

 {{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}{\text{N}}{{\text{C}}_{\text{6}}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{4}}}{\text{N}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}} + {\text{Cl}} - \left( {{\text{CO}}} \right) - {{\text{C}}_{\text{6}}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{4}}} - \left( {{\text{CO}}} \right) - {\text{Cl}}\; \to \;{\text{N}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}{{\text{C}}_{\text{6}}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{4}}} - {\text{NH}} - {\text{CO}} - {{\text{C}}_{\text{6}}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{4}}}{\text{COOH}}\;{\text{ +  2HCl}}

How much energy does an X-ray with an 8 nm (8 x 10-9 m) wavelength have?
Vlada [557]

Answer: 2.48×10^-17 J

Explanation:

Given the following :

Wavelength = 8nm (8 x 10^-9 m)

Energy(e) of X-ray =?

Energy=[speed of light(c) × planck's constant (h)] ÷ wavelength

Speed of light = 3×10^8m/s

Planck's constant = 6.626×10^-34 Js

Wavelength = 8 x 10^-9 m

Energy = [(3×10^8) * (6.626×10^-34)] / 8 x 10^-9

Energy = [19.878×10^(8-34)] / 8 x 10^-9

Energy = 2.48475 × 10^(-26+9)

Energy = 2.48×10^-17 J

This is because their tails are hydrophobic and their heads are hydrophilic. Hydrophobic meaning dislikes being near water and hydrophilic meaning likes to be near water. Therefore, they will orientate themselves in such a manner that the heads are facing externally and all the tails are facing together protected by the hydrophilic heads. google a photo of lipid chains in water if you are still confused. The image formed by a lens may be real or virtual. The image formed by a lens is always virtual.
amid [387]
There are types of lens; concave and convex lens.
The concave lens is a lens which has an inward curve in the middle, that is, the edges of the curve are thicker than the center of the lens, because of this, any light that enter the lens will spread out [diverge]. An image will look smaller and upright when viewed by a concave lens. Image formed by concave lens are usually VIRTUAL.
A concave lens will produce a real image ONLY if the object is located beyond the focal point of the lens.
A convex lens is a converging lens, this is because, the center of the lens is thicker than its edges. Any ray of light that passes through the lens will converge at the middle of the lens at point called principal focus.  A convex lens produce a VIRTUAL image when the object is placed infront of the focal point. The virtual image formed is always magnified and upright.<span />
