A bus leaves at 9 am with a group of tourists. They travel 350 km before they stop for lunch. Then they travel an additional 250

km until the end of their trip at 3 pm. What was the average speed of the bus?

Average speed = Distance traveled / time taken

In this case Time taken = Difference in hours between 3 PM and 9 AM

                                        = 6 hours

Total distance traveled = 350 km + 250 km

                                       = 600 kilometers

So average speed = 600/6 = 100 km/hr

Average speed of bus = 27.78 m/s

So the bus's average speed = 27.78 m/s or 100 km/hr.

Complete question

The complete question is shown on the first uploaded image

Answer:

The velocity is  v = c* \sqrt{1 -  \frac{1}{n^2} }

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

           a = nb

The length of the minor axis  of  the symbol of the Federation, a circle, seen by the observer at velocity v must be equal to the minor axis(b) of the  Empire's symbol, (an ellipse)

Now this length seen by the observer can be mathematically represented as

        h = t \sqrt{1 - \frac{v^2}{c^2} }

Here t  is the actual length of the major axis of of the  Empire's symbol, (an ellipse)

So t = a = nb

and  b is the length of the minor axis of the symbol of the Federation, (a circle) when seen by an observer at velocity v which from the question must be the length of the minor axis of the of the  Empire's symbol, (an ellipse)

 i.e    h = b

So

    b  =  nb  [\sqrt{1 - \frac{v^2}{c^2} } ]

     [\frac{1}{n} ]^2 =  1 -  \frac{v^2}{c^2}

      v^2 =c^2 [1- \frac{1}{n^2} ]

       v^2 =c^2 [\frac{n^2 -1}{n^2} ]

        v = c* \sqrt{1 -  \frac{1}{n^2} }

The Shinkansen (bullet train in Japan) makes a trip from Tokyo Station to Kyoto station in 2 hours and 14 min. The distance trav
11Alexandr11 [23.1K]

Answer:

v =  57.2 m/s

Explanation:

The average velocity of the train can be defined as the total distance covered by the train divided by the time taken by the train to cover that distance. Therefore, we will use the following formula to find the average velocity of the train:

v = s/t

where,

s = distance covered = 460 km = (460 km)(1000 m/1 km) = 4.6 x 10⁵ m

t = time taken to cover the distance = 2 h 14 min

Now, we convert it into minutes:

t = (2 h)(60 min/1 h) + 14 min

t = 120 min + 14 min = (134 min)(60 s/1 min)

t = 8040 s

Therefore, the value of velocity will be:

v = (4.6 x 10⁵ m)/8040 s

<u>v =  57.2 m/s</u>
